Work Schedule Second Shift (Afternoons) Environmental Conditions Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job Description This is a fully onsite role based in our bioanalytical laboratory at 8700 Quioccasin Road in Richmond, VA. Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of scientists, industry thought-leaders and therapeutic experts. Discover Impactful Work: Supports production activities and daily instrument operations and ensures quality and project timeliness. Prepares and implements departmental instrument and laboratory training programs. Maintains and optimizes the systems and other analytical instrumentation and ensures that company revenues and clients timelines are met. Assists with Production and R&D method setups. Responsible for the overall operation of the mass spectrometers within their assigned team. A Day in the Life: • Sets up Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry methods, maintains and optimizes the systems and ensures that projects run efficiently. Previous experience analyzing LC/MS assays is required for this role. • Identifies and implements system related training/professional growth opportunities for employees. • Assists in the organization and scheduling of instrumentation throughput and ensures timelines are met. • Assists the scientists and maintains their systems. • Performs laboratory work (aliquot/extract samples, etc.) as necessary. • Evaluates lab support records for compliance with SOPs, reviews for completeness and accuracy and reports findings. Keys to Success: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5-8 years). In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Understanding of GLP requirements and PPD SOPs • Knowledge of Advanced Chromotography • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair and calibration of auto injectors and pumps • Strong communication skills • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task • Ability to train others • Ability to differentiate between mass spectral resolution and chromatographic resolution • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment Working Conditions and Environment: Thermo Fisher Scientific values the health and wellbeing of our employees. Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in Virginia is $75,000.00–$85,000.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
