A Day in the LifeThe Facilities Automation Maintenance Technician supports Distribution Operations at Medtronic’s Airways Distribution Center in Memphis, Tennessee. This facility is part of Medtronic’s U.S. distribution network and utilizes automated material handling, conveyance, sortation, packaging, and warehouse robotics technologies to support order fulfillment and product distribution activities. This position is based onsite in Memphis, TN and supports Day Shift operations within the distribution center. The role partners closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability, uptime, and efficient facility performance. The Facilities Automation Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving automated material handling systems and facility equipment that support distribution center operations. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, rapid response to operational disruptions, and continuous improvement of automation and facility systems. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on automation, conveyance, sortation, and material handling equipment to maximize reliability and minimize unplanned downtime Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and restore equipment to operational status following equipment failures or unplanned events Inspect, test, repair, and maintain automated systems, machinery, and facility equipment using established maintenance procedures Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams, layouts, technical drawings, and equipment specifications to diagnose and resolve equipment issues Partner with Operations leadership to schedule and complete maintenance activities during production breaks, shift transitions, and other available operational windows Conduct routine and special inspections to identify corrective and preventive maintenance needs before equipment failures occur Apply reliability-centered maintenance practices and support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with site maintenance strategies Safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments while performing maintenance activities Required Qualifications 3+ years of Automation, Manufacturing, Distribution, or Material Handling Equipment Maintenance experience Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment in an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance and repair activities Preferred Qualifications Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated systems such as conveyors, sortation equipment, warehouse robotics, automated packaging systems, Exotec systems, Sparck box-on-demand equipment, or material handling equipment Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Electrical troubleshooting experience, including use of a multimeter for incoming power and low-voltage control systems HVAC experience, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification, or demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Quality System Regulations (QSR), ISO 13485 requirements, or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required. PR) locations (USD):$59,200.00 - $88,800.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). U.S. Pay Transparency (for SIP, Commission, Hourly Direct, Interns, Executives) The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
