Commercial Analytics Manager - Hybrid - Thousand Oaks, CA Please note this is a flexible commuter role based out of Thousand Oaks, CA/Deerfield, IL with 2-3 times a week in office. The Commercial Analytics Senior Manager will lead insights generation by integrating multitude of secondary data sources and engaging several Business Analytics and Insights (BAI) colleagues to develop a comprehensive understanding of brand performance and provide tactical recommendations to drive it. Job Responsibilities Include: Strategic Thought Partnership Partner with brand leaders to help set, communicate, and align on brand priorities; translate those priorities into focused analytical questions, workplans, and clear actions across the team. Support brand planning, executive reviews, forecasting, and investment decisions with objective, data-driven guidance. Help stakeholders move from “what happened” to the drivers, the “so what,” and the recommended “now what.” Performance Analytics & Insight Generation Lead analyses of brand performance, demand drivers, payer and access shifts, promotional impact, field dynamics, and competitive trends. Integrate claims, HCP and account-level demand, specialty pharmacy, EMR, promotional, and access data to develop a holistic view of performance. Produce and interpret standard weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and dashboards, surfacing risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations. Data, KPI & Business Rule Ownership Own KPI definitions, business rules, analytical assumptions, data caveats, and appropriate use of assigned secondary datasets. Ensure outputs are accurate, consistent, reproducible, and comparable over time through strong data quality and documentation standards. Align analytical methods and performance measures across Business Analytics & Insights partners. Analytics Execution & Innovation Lead end-to-end analytics delivery, including scoping, methodology, execution, quality review, stakeholder alignment, and readout. Evaluate business initiatives and experiments using clear KPIs and leading indicators; identify optimization opportunities to improve outcomes. Advance automation, AI-enabled analytics, new data sources, and modern analytical approaches to improve speed, consistency, and impact. Collaboration & Team Leadership Partner with Brand, Forecasting, Market Research, Value & Access, Decision Science, Reporting, and other US Commercial teams. Communicate complex analysis through concise, decision-oriented narratives for senior stakeholders. Lead and develop analysts, strengthening analytical rigor, commercial understanding, and communication skills. Work effectively across US and global teams in different time zones, including ACCP Portugal and Amgen India in Hyderabad, to align priorities, coordinate delivery, and provide timely, consistent analytical support. Partner with and manage external data and analytics vendors to prioritize business needs, maintain data quality, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of analytics and insights. Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree and 2 years of commercial insights or consulting experience OR Master’s degree and 4 years of commercial insights or consulting experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of commercial insights or consulting experience Preferred Qualifications 6+ years of relevant experience in commercial analytics, sales analytics, field effectiveness, life sciences consulting, and/or pharmaceutical or biotechnology field sales. Demonstrated experience leading people, project teams, major workstreams, or external analytics and data vendors. Familiarity with US pharmaceutical secondary data and its application to commercial decision-making, including claims, specialty pharmacy, HCP and account demand, EMR, payer/access, and promotional data. Strategic Thinking: Ability to connect commercial strategy with analytics—framing the right questions, identifying the measures that matter, and translating findings into decisions and actions. Business Planning & Prioritization: Ability to balance competing business needs, focus resources on the highest-impact opportunities, and establish clear plans for delivering analytics. Analytical Judgment: Ability to interpret complex and imperfect data, identify meaningful performance signals, assess drivers and tradeoffs, and develop practical recommendations. Program & Process Leadership: Experience coordinating cross-functional analytics initiatives, improving reporting and analytics processes, and delivering solutions on time and with high quality. Collaboration: Proven ability to build productive partnerships across Brand, Sales, Forecasting, Market Research, Value & Access, Decision Science, and other commercial teams. Communication & Influence: Ability to turn complex analysis into concise, compelling stories that build stakeholder confidence and guide senior-level decisions. Experience using visualization, automation, and AI-enabled analytical capabilities to increase the scale, speed, and consistency of commercial insights.
