ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD. At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future. Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career. THE ROLE: We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who, with their deep software engineering and software security expertise, will develop AI-based solutions that enhance and transform traditional software security scanning and analysis technologies. The role will focus on applying modern AI/ML, LLMs, and automated reasoning techniques to complex software security challenges across large source-code bases, binaries, dependencies, and software artifacts. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with software security best practices, vulnerability analysis, and security scanning technologies, with the ability to bridge traditional analysis methodologies with emerging AI capabilities. Experience with technologies such as Coverity, CodeQL, Black Duck Binary Analysis , or comparable software security platforms is highly desirable. Ability to work multi-functionally will ensure full engagement with software engineering, security research, product engineering, and other technical teams. This role will provide an opportunity to develop innovative security technologies and proprietary intellectual property that can fundamentally improve how software vulnerabilities and security risks are identified, analyzed, and addressed. THE PERSON: Curiosity and a passion for solving complex technical problems will drive continuous learning and innovation at the intersection of AI and software security . You will bring a strong understanding of how large-scale software is developed, analyzed, and secured, while continuously exploring how AI can make traditional security analysis more intelligent, accurate, scalable, and efficient. You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys working on difficult problems that do not always have obvious answers. You are comfortable moving between architecture, implementation, debugging, security analysis, and research, and you thrive in a collaborative environment where ideas are challenged and improved by a diverse group of highly technical peers. If you are passionate about software engineering, software security, AI, and building technologies that can directly improve the quality and security of software used by customers around the world, you would love this team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions for software security scanning, analysis, and vulnerability detection , applying LLMs, machine learning, generative AI, and automated reasoning to enhance traditional static analysis, binary analysis, and software security technologies. Develop intelligent systems and scalable analysis pipelines capable of analyzing large and complex source-code repositories, binaries, dependencies, software artifacts, enterprise-scale codebases, and software portfolios . Integrate AI capabilities with established security analysis technologies such as Coverity, CodeQL, Black Duck Binary Analysis , and comparable tools, combining AI with static analysis, semantic code analysis, vulnerability databases, program behavior, and other security signals. Develop technologies to identify and analyze CVEs, CWEs, insecure coding practices, vulnerability patterns, attack surfaces, and other software security risks , while improving detection accuracy, reducing false positives and false negatives, and evaluating the reliability, explainability, and confidence of AI-assisted security analysis. Build and maintain proprietary security analysis technologies and intellectual property that extend beyond conventional rule-based scanning, while evaluating emerging AI technologies and identifying opportunities to apply them to real-world software security problems. Hands-on debug and investigate complex security-analysis challenges, drive issues to root cause, and collaborate with peer teams to develop effective solutions. Engage with multi-functional technical leadership, security researchers, software engineers, architects, and product teams to translate emerging security challenges into practical, production-quality solutions and integrate AI security capabilities into broader engineering and product workflows. Make an impact by mentoring other engineers, contributing to architecture and design decisions, and establishing best practices across AI and software security engineering. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Multiple years of professional software engineering experience , including substantial experience working on large codebases and within large engineering organizations. Extensive knowledge of software security best practices, secure software development, vulnerability analysis, software security architectures, CVEs, CWEs, CVSS, vulnerability databases, and common software vulnerability classes . Proven experience developing, contributing to, or working with security scanning, static analysis, dynamic analysis, taint analysis, code property graphs, symbolic execution, fuzzing, reverse engineering, binary analysis, vulnerability detection, vulnerability research, IP protection, anti-tampering, or related security technologies , including tools such as Coverity, CodeQL, Black Duck Binary Analysis, Semgrep , or comparable tools. Experience developing security technologies that protect software intellectual property is highly desirable. Experience with AI/ML, LLMs, generative AI, code intelligence, embeddings, RAG, AI agents, or automated reasoning , with demonstrated ability to apply AI to real-world software engineering or cybersecurity problems. Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Rust , or similar, with a strong understanding of software architecture, algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and large-scale software development. Experience working with large repositories, dependency graphs, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise software development environments. Experience taking complex technical concepts from research or prototype through production implementation . Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. A university degree in Software Engineering is highly preferred. #LI-TB1 #LI-DNI Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance .
