Global Procurement proactively manages the entire supplier ecosystem, making a vital contribution to improving health outcomes, reducing costs for patients and global healthcare systems, and ensuring that Roche continues doing now what patients need next.\ The Opportunity This role sits within the Business Partnering group which is focused on enabling greater customer centricity in GP by gathering and sharing business insights and feedback, promoting procurement solutions and services and simplifying partnering with procurement for the business. As the Sr. Procurement Partnering Manager - R&D, you will serve as an insights-driven strategic partner across R&D. You will synthesize business intelligence, spend analytics, and market trends to uncover strategic opportunities across a broad customer base. Sitting at the intersection of business strategy and procurement capability, you bring a holistic view of R&D needs, translating data into actionable business cases and hypothesis-driven value creation. You provide strategic, insights-led business partnering across the full R&D spectrum—including pRED (Pharma Research & Early Development), gRED (Genentech Research & Early Development), and Product Development (PD). . You collaborate with customers, internal procurement (i.e. Chapters, networks and capability areas eg core delivery, contracting, solutions, analytics, insights, etc.) and transactional/operations teams to align on needs and opportunity fulfilment or general service enhancements that improve the overall customer experience and realize value for the customer. You work closely with other team members as a subject matter expert, project or workstream lead to develop strategies, measure and track performance, while also identifying and leveraging synergies across Roche. You will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and the general business/team requirements, including but not limited to these core responsibilities: You act as a domain expert, providing business insights and opportunities for stakeholders through the procurement organization. You leverage insights across a broad portfolio of R&D stakeholders to identify common operational challenges, driving enterprise-wide solutions. You are a strategy developer and value driver, translating complex procurement and market data into strategic recommendations for business leaders, prioritizing customer engagements where data highlights the highest potential impact. You will work with your team, broader capability area, networks, and squads/project teams to determine the various roles you can take to deliver or support both project and foundational work. In particular you will partner closely with Analytics & Insights, Market Intelligence, and Category teams to formulate data-informed hypotheses, identify emerging market trends, and uncover hidden efficiency or innovation opportunities across pRED, gRED, and PD. Your successful performance and contribution depend on the full embodiment and demonstration of core mindsets and behaviors, including curiosity, passion, an entrepreneurial spirit, enterprise thinking, inclusive collaboration, and desire for continuous learning that underpin our culture and ways of working. Who you are: You hold a university degree, with a business or life science degree preferable. You have 7+ years with procurement (multi-category) or relevant sales or customer management leadership experience, ideally in a matrix organization You have demonstrated experience across the Pharma R&D landscape (including early research environments like pRED/gRED or clinical development). You are comfortable using data, market intelligence, and business insights to build compelling narratives, test hypotheses, and influence senior stakeholders without needing to be the primary hands-on data builder. You have strong proven success in building and cultivating collaborative and productive relationships with senior stakeholders. You have demonstrated project management skills You strive to act as an enterprise thinker and leverage knowledge and expertise to create solutions for business customers by proactively fostering collaboration, including across the procurement network. You are action oriented and can make decisions and influence others to do the same. You demonstrate curiosity, active listening and a willingness to experiment and test new ideas when appropriate, with the focus very much on continuous learning and improvement. You work with colleagues across procurement, business and the wider Roche organization to broaden knowledge and expertise, better understand customer needs, and connect the dots. You are open-minded and inclusive, generously sharing ideas and knowledge, while being receptive to ideas and feedback from others.
