Job Title: Business Development Manager - Medical Department: Corporate Reports to: Vice President Engineering & Technology Classification: Exempt Location: Hybrid Travel: Yes Job Summary: The Business Development Manager, Medical is responsible for driving profitable growth within the medical manufacturing market by identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, increasing revenue, and expanding GWS Tool Group’s presence. This role collaborates closely with sales, marketing, engineering, and operations teams to drive sustainable business growth, develop strategic partnerships, and capture new market opportunities. The Business Development Manager analyzes market trends, customer needs, and competitive activities to develop strategies that align with the organization's business objectives. In addition, this role serves as the voice of the customer, ensuring products are developed, positioned, launched, and supported based on validated market needs, competitive benchmarking, application performance data, and customer feedback. The position requires strong technical knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and medical manufacturing requirements, along with the ability to build executive-level customer relationships and influence strategic decisions Duties/Responsibilities: Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the medical market segment. Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with medical OEMs, contract manufacturers, and key channel partners Serve as the primary market expert for medical manufacturing trends, technologies, and customer requirements Lead medical-focused product launches, market introductions, and commercialization activities Assist sales teams with opportunity qualification, application assessments, and strategic account development Conduct market research, competitive analysis, customer visits, and application studies to identify growth opportunities Collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to develop customer focused solutions Serve as the technical authority for assigned products, materials, and target applications Define product strategy, positioning, and roadmap aligned with company and market objectives Track and report key performance indicators including revenue growth, new customer acquisition, quoting activity, pipeline development, product adoption, and profitability improvements Support the development and launch of new products, including end mills, drills, reamers, thread whirling and specials Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams Participate in industry trade shows, technical conferences, customer events, and professional organizations to increase market visibility and generate new opportunities Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as mechanical or manufacturing engineering preferred Proven experience (5 years) in manufacturing Experience supporting medical device manufacturing or highly regulated industries preferred. Strong understanding of CNC machining, cutting tool technologies, and manufacturing processes Analytical and problem-solving skills of basic manufacturing processes Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders Physical Requirements: Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds at a time Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Ability to drive or fly to all facilities Other Information Travel is required (desired 50%), domestic and international All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, age, genetic information, or any other factors prohibited by law.
