THE ROLE As a Database & Data Platforms Engineer, you will join AMD's global Database and Data Platforms team, supporting the technologies that power enterprise applications, analytics, and next-generation AI initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience in a large-scale environment spanning multiple technologies and regions. This role offers an exceptional learning opportunity for an early-career engineer who is passionate about databases, data engineering, cloud technologies, automation, and AI. You will work alongside highly experienced engineers who will provide mentoring and training, helping you develop expertise across a diverse technology stack that includes enterprise databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Weaviate, along with cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Snowflake. You will also gain exposure to AMD's modern data platform ecosystem consisting of Dremio, Dataiku, Apache Spark, MinIO, Apache Iceberg, Dagster, Kubernetes and other analytics and AI-enabling technologies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Support and administer enterprise database platforms across a global production environment Partner with application teams, data engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide secure, scalable, and efficient database and data platform solutions. Monitor the health, performance, capacity, availability, and operational stability of database and data platform environments Investigate and resolve incidents related to databases and data platforms Assist with platform provisioning, lifecycle management, patching, maintenance, and technology refresh initiatives Build, support, and maintain data pipelines and data lake technologies Develop scripts, workflows, and tools to automate operational processes and reduce manual effort Leverage AI-powered tools and modern development practices to accelerate delivery, improve productivity, and enhance platform capabilities Support a wide range of technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Dremio, Dataiku, Spark, MinIO, Apache Iceberg, Dagster, Nessie, Weaviate, and other emerging data and AI platforms. Partner with teams across multiple global locations to deliver reliable and secure data services. Participate in operational support activities and, as your experience develops, contribute to an on-call rotation and occasional planned weekend maintenance. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Exposure to database and data platforms technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Mongo DB, Dremio, Apache Spark or similar platforms. Experience developing software, scripts, or automation solutions through academic, internship, personal, or professional projects. Familiarity with Python or another programming language. Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging techniques, and algorithmic problem-solving. Exposure to AI, machine learning, generative AI, or AI-assisted development tools is desirable.
