Mechanical Design Engineer (MC)
ASML · Veldhoven, Netherlands
Job description
Introduction Within the ASML development organization, our Machine Conditioning (MC) department is responsible for Conditioning our lithography machines. Our objective is to precisely control the temperature of the critical areas in the machine and to keep products free of particle and chemical contamination. Concurrently we control the vacuum in our EUV tool, which is also a part of our responsibility. This is accomplished by systems with controlled water cooling and controlled ultra-high purity gas flows for high- and low pressure. You will work with temperature control and gas conditioning, which is essential in reducing the environmental footprint of our machines – an essential part of our sustainability goals. We are looking for multiple engineers on medior, senior and lead level, within the Machine Conditioning (MC) department. Job description As a mechanical design engineer, you are responsible for the conceptualization, definition, detailed hardware design, and technical product documentation (drawings and other required documents). This work consists of a translation of the architecture into a design that meets the agreed requirements; a creation of the 3D hardware design, design release, volume control, engineering changes as well as design qualification and proving the design is working as intended. In collaboration with the Lead Engineer, you manage internal and external stakeholders. You present your design concepts to stakeholders and align modifications. You are proactively gathering data from suppliers, factories, and fields to continuously improve your design for future platforms and upgrades. For this role, it’s important to act as both a team member and coach: you support and motivate other ASML designers in making high-quality designs while sticking to the project timeline. You ensure design quality based on your knowledge and experience. In case you recognize yourself and feel inspired and challenged, we invite you to apply. Main responsibilities: Translate performance specifications into design specification for (sub-)modules. (Key words: feasibility, flow, pressure drop, Gas purity, availability, manufacturability, reliability, design hardware, etc.) Guide technical discussions towards the best design solution that meets all requirements and implementation (including cost, quality and timing) Ensure the design is documented with proper models, drawings and detailed design information documents (including piping & instrumentation diagrams). Cooperate with (internal) customers and suppliers as input for the hardware roadmap and to close the feedback loop. Coach and guide (junior) designers in making high-quality designs. Contributor to the (product) roadmap Education Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical and industrial engineering, aerospace engineering or related fields Experience At least 5 years of solid design experience in relevant industry Excellent knowledge in the field of manufacturability of mechanical parts. Technical communication with suppliers. Experience with NX (Unigraphics) or similar CAD program required. Experience with vacuum is a plus Experience with engineering change processes A first experience with delegating work Experience with Compliancy and Standards is a plus Personal skills Motivated team player with a high level of social, coordination and communication skills (including speaking-up and providing feedback).
