If you require assistance or an accommodation to complete your application, please contact us at USCareers@airbus.com Notice: Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal Notice: Pay Transparency Nondiscrimination (English) Aviso: Transparencia en el Pago No Discriminación (Spanish) Job Description: Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for a Quality Operations Manager (A220 VSM) 2nd Shift to join our team based in Mobile, AL The successful candidate will report to the HO Quality VSM, and lead teams of Quality inspectors across multiple business units (BUs), whilst acting as the on-site representative of Quality A220 VSM on 2nd shift after HO Q VSM leaves site. Their main activities will be to direct, supervise, and coordinate all operational Quality activities in A220 VSM in their various business units. They will pull MFTs together to resolve issues in a timely manner, know the Quality, Operational and leadership processes and tools to be applied within their daily activities, and frequently make challenging decisions under pressure that impact the flow of Operations. They will manage, motivate, and develop the Quality team including lead Inspectors and other Quality team members, in addition to acting as a coach for the Quality Supervisor and other MFT support function members and leaders on 2nd shift. They will also ensure consistent clear communication between shifts to transfer activities and priorities seamlessly. They are responsible for ensuring that all Airbus Quality Standards are upheld and executed per the defined inspection systems, and in accordance with all POA relevant regulations. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges: Lead and Develop Multiple Teams: 30% Lead and develop the VSM Quality Inspection teams on 2nd shift, ensure that the poly/poly and qualification of inspection personnel is in accordance with the Airbus Qualification requirements. Risk mitigation and issue resolution of quality escapes endangering the aircraft built and/or product safety, launch of immediate corrective actions. Ensure that NCs are managed and drumbeat from creation to closure, that Andons are priority for all within the MFT. Act as the responsible focal point for all internal and external audits in the assigned areas of responsibility. Liaise with the Customers and manage their irritants which come from the assigned area. Develop, define and implement working level processes based on the experience and recommendations from existing FAL operations. Identifies opportunities and implements adaptations for local application of such ideas; frequently having to make challenging decisions which might impact the nominal operational Flow. Conducts training to insure optimum performance in job procedures and methods of lead employees and other assigned technicians. Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations/company policies and procedures relating to workmanship. Coach, mentor, and work on development of key team members within their teams, supervisors, and the wider organization. Conduct periodic performance evaluations, makes recommendations regarding personnel actions and collaborates with HO Quality VSM in employee communication and communicating on personnel actions. Plan and control workload of all assigned employees to ensure on time delivery per approved schedule. Coordinate with and obtain support from the assigned team Able to provide efficient feedback analysis and trend to management with a detailed PDCA. Drive performance in and indirectly lead MFT members such as Methods, Engineering, NDT etc. through problems to achieve results. Ensure Compliance: 30% Ensures all TCCA-POA regulatory requirements are implemented and used in the VSM on the 2nd shift. Ensure that all technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft are carried out to the POA standards, inspection plans and are attested. Work with Operational leadership on meeting/maintaining the required level of competencies and qualifications of the delegated Production Verification (PV). Ensure that Aircraft production and the milestone FOT is in compliance with the Quality, cost and lead-time targets. Ensure that employees are in compliance with OSHA, safety and environmental regulations. Project Management: 30% Support the deployment and implementation of sustainable improvement projects and standardized ways of working such as AOS. Lead projects and initiatives such as new station implementation, new customer inspection processes, introduction of new aircraft versions and production rate increase activities. Responsible for Continuous Improvement including leading activities and document progress. Fully proficient in AOS and has the ability to own a QPS brick and implement it into multiple stations or working areas. Additional Responsibilities: 10% Work with respective functions to ensure all tooling, consumables and relative equipment are procured through the right channels in order to perform daily tasks. Work within and lead MFTs to resolve Quality issues and ensure constant feedback loops with Engineering, Methods, QE and CAMs. Expected to be proficient and can coach Airbus policies and processes (i.e. NC Process, PV delegation and others.) Act as a Deputy in the absence of the HO Quality VSM or Production 2nd Shift Manager in any L3/L4 meeting or routine. Improvement Projects identified through the FAL locally or via Central or Programme Quality. Quality system improvement initiatives and organization drives to improve. Acting, and being seen to act, in accordance with Airbus values and leadership model requirements. Produce reports showing trend and data of the performance and its output to the business. Work as part of the Quality leadership team to set key projects and directives for the FAL and Quality network which improve on the business defined scorecards.
