Procurement LeadStrategic Category Management & Procurement LeadershipThe Procurement Lead is responsible for leading strategic sourcing and category management activities across indirect spend categories such as building materials, building trades, or construction, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), Professional Services, Facilities Management, and other indirect procurement categories. This role combines people leadership, category expertise, and procurement execution, ensuring the delivery of sourcing initiatives that generate value through cost optimization, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and process excellence. The Procurement Lead manages a small team of procurement professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and oversight while simultaneously leading complex sourcing projects and strategic supplier engagements. This position serves as a trusted business partner to internal stakeholders and drives procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Lead and mentor a team of procurement analysts and buyers, ensuring achievement of functional goals, performance objectives, and professional development plans. Oversee team deliverables and ensure sourcing activities are completed in accordance with established procurement policies, timelines, and quality standards. Drive end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives, including spend analysis, market assessments, supplier evaluations, RFI/RFP/RFQ management, negotiations, and contract execution. Lead complex and high-value procurement projects independently while providing guidance on strategic sourcing activities managed by team members. Establish strong partnerships with business stakeholders to understand requirements, align procurement strategies, and identify value creation opportunities. Deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, and process improvements through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, demand management, and value engineering initiatives. Lead commercial negotiations and contract discussions to secure optimal pricing, service levels, risk protection, and contractual terms. Manage supplier relationships and supplier performance reviews to ensure service excellence, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement. Monitor supply market trends, emerging risks, industry developments, and pricing benchmarks to proactively inform sourcing strategies. Collaborate with legal, finance, operations, facilities, engineering, and business partners to ensure successful procurement execution. Utilize procurement systems such as Coupa, SAP, Ariba, or similar platforms to manage sourcing projects, supplier information, contracts, and spend visibility. Leverage Power BI and advanced analytics tools to generate procurement insights, performance dashboards, and category recommendations. Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement governance standards, contractual obligations, and audit requirements. Identify opportunities to standardize processes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance procurement capabilities within the organization. Support leadership with procurement reporting, business reviews, strategic planning, and transformation initiatives. Act as an escalation point for supplier, stakeholder, and procurement-related issues requiring advanced commercial judgment and resolution. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and customer-centric service within the procurement team. Qualifications / Skills / ExperienceEducationBachelor's Degree (Required): Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Master's Degree (Preferred): MBA, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations Management, or related discipline. Professional Certifications (Preferred): CPSM, CIPS, CPM, CSCP, or equivalent procurement and supply chain certifications. Experience7-10 years of progressive procurement and strategic sourcing experience. Minimum 2-3 years of experience leading or mentoring procurement teams. Demonstrated experience in indirect procurement categories such as MRO, Professional Services, Facilities Management, Corporate Services, IT, or related categories. Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings, supplier optimization, and procurement transformation initiatives. Experience managing complex sourcing projects involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Strong experience in supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and commercial risk management. Experience working in global or multinational environments preferred. Technical SkillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Strong analytical and reporting capabilities using Power BI or equivalent visualization tools. Hands-on experience with ERP and procurement platforms such as SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, Oracle, or equivalent systems. Ability to conduct detailed spend analysis, category assessments, supplier benchmarking, and market intelligence reviews. Strong understanding of contract terms, commercial negotiations, procurement compliance, and sourcing best practices. Leadership & Business SkillsDemonstrated success in managing and developing procurement professionals. Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills. Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority. Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills. Proven ability to balance strategic initiatives with operational priorities while meeting business objectives.
