As Field Service Engineer you will have an important role delivering high-quality onsite service to Varian’s customers in the Italian region. This role is ideal for someone with strong on-site customer support experience from the engineering sector that enjoys customer contact and takes great pride in providing excellent service. You will be joining a dedicated team of more than 50 people based across Italy. Being Varian’s “face” towards the customer, it is vital that you enjoy customer contact, can interpret customer concerns and take immediate action. Each Field Service Engineer operates in a designated field service territory to represent Varian Medical Systems, and this requires a good level of professional communication with different teams, customers, management, sales and technical support. Key Responsibilities Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: perform electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex issues in radiotherapy equipment. Customer Support: provide both on-site (in-hospital) and remote technical support for radiotherapy accelerators. Maintenance & Repair: service, maintain, and repair accelerator equipment in full compliance with technical manuals, service instructions, and bulletins. Testing & Modification: utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to conduct system checkouts, calibrations, and necessary modifications. Administrative Compliance: managing administrative duties efficiently, including accurate logging of timesheets, submission of expense and service reports, and completion of required training. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 6–10 years of hands-on experience as a Field Service Engineer working on customer sites. Technical Expertise: 6–10 years of proven background in electronic and electromechanical engineering, with expertise in using verification, checkout, and calibration equipment. Education: Technical background (e.g., secondary diploma from ITIS/IPSIA) and/or a degree in Electronic or Biomedical Engineering. Languages: Fluency in Italian with strong professional working proficiency in English. Work Environment Location & Travel: Home-based position with up to 50% travel required to customer sites. Compensation & Benefits In accordance with our commitment to pay transparency and equal opportunity, we provide a clear breakdown of the financial package for this role: The position is regulated by the National Collective Labor Agreement CCNL Metalmeccanico. The base salary for this position typically ranges from € 37.000 to €49.000 gross per year. The final offer will be tailored based on your individual skills, experience and specific location.
