A Day in the LifeMedtronic Singapore Operations supports the manufacture and supply of medical technologies that serve patients worldwide. The Sterilization and Microbiology function is responsible for providing microbiological testing, laboratory services, environmental controls, and sterilization support that ensure product quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuity of manufacturing operations. The team partners closely with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Regulatory functions to maintain effective contamination control and sterilization processes across the site. This position is based in Singapore and operates in an onsite work environment to support laboratory and manufacturing activities. The Sr Microbiologist-Sterilization Supervisor is responsible for leading the Sterilization and Microbiological Laboratory team, ensuring timely and accurate testing, sterilization services, and technical support for manufacturing operations. This role provides people leadership, oversees laboratory and sterilization activities, drives compliance with quality and regulatory requirements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and product quality. Primary Responsibilities Lead and supervise the Sterilization and Microbiological Laboratory team to ensure timely execution of testing, monitoring, and sterilization activities that support production schedules and quality objectives. Oversee microbiological analyses of raw materials, in-process materials, release samples, stability samples, and other materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications. Direct sterilization operations and related quality activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality system, and operational requirements. Review and evaluate microbiological and sterilization data, interpret results, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions when required. Develop, validate, implement, and maintain controlled environment and microbiological testing methods to support manufacturing and quality programs. Drive process improvements by applying existing analytical techniques, modifying methodologies for increased efficiency, and supporting implementation of new testing approaches. Support investigations of deviations, nonconformances, out-of-specification results, and quality events, partnering with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and corrective actions. Provide leadership in talent development, performance management, workforce planning, employee engagement, and execution of departmental objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in microbiology, sterilization, laboratory operations, quality, or a related regulated manufacturing environment; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Experience leading or supervising employees, including work prioritization, coaching, performance management, and execution of operational objectives. Experience performing or overseeing microbiological testing, laboratory operations, environmental monitoring, or sterilization-related activities. Experience investigating quality issues, deviations, nonconformances, or corrective and preventive actions within a regulated environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization processes, validation, monitoring, and requalification activities. Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry. Knowledge of microbiological testing methods, controlled environments, contamination control programs, and environmental monitoring systems. Experience supporting methodology transfer, validation activities, and implementation of new analytical techniques. Experience using data analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to improve quality, compliance, and operational performance.
