Job Description: In order to support the Cloud Platforms & Solutions team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Junior Cloud & DevOps Engineer / Kubernetes Specialist (f/m/d) Join the Cloud Platforms & Solutions team within Digital at Airbus! We drive the digital transformation across the company using DCS (Digital Container Services)—our enterprise-grade container platform built on Red Hat OpenShift and upstream Kubernetes. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our central platform and internal project teams. Rather than focusing solely on underlying infrastructure, you will empower software development teams to modernize, containerize, and deploy their applications seamlessly on DCS through technical consulting, developer advocacy, and pre-sales engineering. Your tasks and responsibilitiesTechnical Advocacy & Pre-Sales: Represent DCS to internal project teams, assessing application architectures and demonstrating platform capabilities. Hands-on Containerization & Deployment: Guide teams through application containerization, writing Dockerfiles/Podman specs, Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, and setting up ArgoCD GitOps pipelines. Developer Enablement & Workshops: Conduct hands-on coding sessions, office hours, and workshops to upskill developers in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and modern CI/CD practices. Requirements & User Advocacy: Gather developer feedback and friction points to define actionable technical requirements for the core DCS Platform team. Documentation & Community: Build developer-friendly quick-start guides, GitOps templates, and sample repositories to foster internal cloud-native developer communities. Desired skills and qualificationsEducation: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience). Software Development & Architecture: Practical programming experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Node.js) and a strong understanding of modern application architectures. Containerization & Orchestration: Proven expertise with Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift platforms. GitOps & Delivery Pipelines: Practical experience or strong knowledge of GitOps principles, ArgoCD, and modern CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitLab CI). Consulting & Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, teaching, and presentation capabilities to effectively mentor development teams. Language Proficiency: Fluent English AND German!
