Job Description SummaryJoin GE HealthCare's LSS team as a Software Engineering Co-op and gain hands-on experience developing software for life-support medical devices. You will work alongside experienced engineers on embedded software, software test tools, and product development initiatives while gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and documentation. Job DescriptionAs a LSS Software Engineering Co-op, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software used in life-support medical devices and the test tools used to develop and validate those products. Working with experienced engineers, managers, and mentors, you will participate in meaningful projects that provide real-world software development experience in a regulated medical device environment. ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain real-time and non-real-time software applications using C++. Support development of embedded software running on production hardware platforms. Design, develop, and maintain software test tools used to verify product functionality and performance. Participate in software design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation activities. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve technical challenges. Gain hands-on experience with anesthesia and respiratory care products, including anesthesia systems and vaporizers. Work independently and as part of a team to deliver project objectives. Basic QualificationsCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Graduation date of December 2027 or later. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Demonstrated programming experience in one or more languages such as C++, Python, or C#. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. Proven leadership experience through academic, extracurricular, or professional activities. Available to work for a minimum of 28 weeks. Willingness to relocate to Madison, WI for the duration of the co-op. Desired SkillsPrevious internship, co-op, research, or project experience in software engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field. Experience developing software for embedded systems. Experience debugging software on real hardware targets. Familiarity with software development tools, build environments, and debugging techniques. Demonstrated passion for technology and engineering. Strong analytical approach to solving complex technical problems. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
