Job description

Job purpose: The Brand Manager, Oncology (Solid Tumor) is responsible for driving commercial success across priority solid tumor assets within the Japan Oncology portfolio. The role is designed for high-potential commercial talent with the capability to grow into future leadership positions within Solid Tumor Marketing. The individual will be expected to demonstrate increasing ownership across multiple assets, indications, and strategic business priorities over time. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution, leading key business decisions while also actively contributing to tactical planning, content development, launch readiness, and day-to-day implementation activities. The role partners closely with Sales, Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Compliance, Business Intelligence, Finance, and Global teams to ensure successful launch preparation, commercialization, and lifecycle management of oncology brands in Japan. Key responsibilities: 1. Strategic Brand & Portfolio Leadership • Develop and execute brand and indication strategies for assigned solid tumor assets. • Contribute to portfolio-level planning and prioritization across multiple oncology assets and indications. • Identify growth opportunities, risks, competitive threats, and strategic responses. • Support annual business planning and long-term portfolio development. 2. Launch Excellence & New Product Planning • Lead launch preparation activities from pre-launch through post-launch execution. • Develop launch plans, critical success factors, milestones, and contingency scenarios. • Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness activities. • Support market development initiatives and future commercial opportunities. 3. Forecasting & Business Performance • Lead patient-based forecasting, market sizing, epidemiology assessment, and scenario planning. • Monitor business performance and identify key drivers of success or underperformance. • Translate data and insights into actionable recommendations for leadership. • Support resource allocation and investment prioritization decisions. 4. Customer & Market Insights • Develop a deep understanding of patient journeys, treatment pathways, institutional dynamics, and unmet needs. • Lead the development and refinement of customer segmentation, targeting, and omnichannel engagement strategies. • Generate insights from market research, analytics, field interactions, advisory boards, and secondary data. • Translate customer insights into actionable strategies and tactics. 5. Scientific & Competitive Excellence • Develop a strong understanding of oncology science, clinical evidence, treatment guidelines, biomarkers, and evolving standards of care. • Translate complex clinical data into compelling and compliant commercial strategies. • Monitor the competitive landscape and identify implications for brand strategy. 6. Cross-Functional Leadership • Serve as a key leader within cross-functional brand teams. • Drive alignment and execution across Sales, Medical, Market Access, Development, Regulatory, Compliance, Global, and external partners. • Influence stakeholders without direct reporting authority. • Represent Japan commercial needs within senior management and global discussions. 7. Hands-on Marketing Execution • Lead development and execution of marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives. • Create and review promotional materials, campaigns, congress activities, speaker programs, and customer-facing content. • Support field force readiness, training materials, and launch communication plans. • Manage vendors, agencies, budgets, and project timelines. • Ensure excellence in day-to-day implementation while maintaining strategic focus. 8. External Stakeholder Engagement • Develop and maintain compliant relationships with key healthcare professionals, academic leaders, professional societies, and advocacy groups. • Represent the company at congresses and relevant external engagements. • Generate market insights that support future strategic decisions. 9. Compliance & Governance • Ensure all activities comply with company policies, local regulations, industry codes, and ethical standards. • Maintain the highest standards of scientific integrity and patient focus. 10. Leadership & Capability Development • Demonstrate leadership potential through increasing ownership of business challenges. • Coach and support team members where appropriate. • Contribute to building future Solid Tumor Marketing capabilities. • Develop readiness for future leadership opportunities within Oncology Marketing. 必要な条件Basic Qualification スキル Skill • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen. • Strong understanding of pharma and oncology business • Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities. • Excellent communication and presentation skills. • Ability to balance strategic priorities with operational execution. • Strong project management capability. • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and evolving business environments. • Leadership capabilities and creative mindset • Results-oriented, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes. 経験 Experience • 2+ years pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare marketing experience (oncology preferred). • Experience in brand strategy development, launch planning and tactical execution. • Experience working in cross-functional teams and with global marketing teams. • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. • Experience preparing and delivering business recommendations.
