In this vital role you apply engineering principles to implement the accurate design, qualification and implementation of Primary and Secondary Packaging components and the associated systems such as documentation, equipment and processes supporting global supply, new product introductions, partnerships/acquisitions and combination products within the Packaging Engineering group under Combination Product Operations (CPO). Provide engineering support for manufacturing and packaging operations by troubleshooting technical issues and implementing process improvements related to secondary packaging materials manufacturing process performance. Perform distribution testing per American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D4169. Complete testing standards using ASTM, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI), United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), and European Pharmacopoeia (EP). Serve as a technical resource for equipment, systems, and packaging components evaluations, supporting cross-functional teams and daily operations. Monitor process performance, analyze data, and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and compliance. Support quality systems activities, including deviations, investigations, validation, equipment qualification, and new product introductions. Lead testing and evaluation of secondary packaging materials, including protocol development, technical assessments, and supporting documentation. Build, modify, and approve engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Solid Works, or similar software applications. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Process Development, and other stakeholders to support commercial and development activities. Contribute to engineering projects, system modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives while applying sound scientific and engineering principles. Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree in Engineering Or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2 years of Engineering experience Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering. Over one year of experience in creating and modifying engineering drawings utilizing AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks, or comparable software tools. Packaging and Materials Science background is a plus. 2+ years of general packaging engineering experience in final product manufacturing within the Pharma/Biotech Industry. Solid understanding of common materials used in pharmaceutical primary and secondary packaging (bottles, labels, trays, lidding material, leaflets, paperboard, sterile barrier packaging, corrugate, etc.) and distribution testing. Experience solving packaging materials performance issues and interacting with material suppliers. Knowledge of pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing and GMP operations. Strong organizational and technical writing skills. Proficient in presenting and communicating effectively in both English and Spanish.
