Sandvik Mining & Rock, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry, currently has 1 opening for a 1st Shift Outbound Operations Manager. Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling. The Outbound Operations Manager oversees all outbound operations across all shifts, including order picking, consolidation, packing, and loading for both ground shipping and common carrier shipments. Reporting directly to the Hub Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards while driving continuous improvement and strategic initiatives. The Outbound Operations Manager implements and monitors operational changes, fosters a culture of accountability and empowerment, and develops problem-solving capabilities across the team. This role partners with leadership across the facility to optimize processes, enhance productivity, and promote a high-performance, collaborative work environment. Main Responsibilities Operational Develop, maintain and ensure compliance of all Sandvik policies, SOPs, safety, and environmental practices Oversee all outbound operations across all shifts, including order picking, consolidation, packing, and loading for carrier shipments. Optimize/improve operational efficiency and performance - Operational cost control, KPI, SOP Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes, systems, or technology within the outbound operations team. Coordinate with other departments, including inbound, inventory control, and transportation, to resolve operational challenges and optimize end-to-end workflow. Perform all functions within warehouse operations Support in the execution of continuous improvement projects Other duties as assigned due to business needs People Develop, mentor, and coach team members and leadership across all shifts to build strong operational capabilities and a high-performance culture by cross training and on-the-job training. Promote employee engagement, empowerment, and problem-solving at all levels of the outbound team. Foster a safe, inclusive, and compliant work environment, engaging regularly with employees to address concerns and reinforce expectations. Oversee performance management, including evaluations, feedback, and development plans, ensuring accountability and growth across the team. Lead communication of organization’s goals, priorities, and professional standards through regular pre-shift and ad hoc meetings. Leadership Serve as the senior leader for all outbound operations, reporting directly to the Hub Manager. Model company values and operational excellence, holding peers, managers, and employees accountable for performance and compliance. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration across the outbound team and broader facility. Lead cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects that impact multiple shifts or departments, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Desired Traits & Skills Experience with WMS; Blue Yonder a plus Experience managing a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Proficiency in MS Office is required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to concisely explain technical and complex concepts. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly adapt as business needs change. Ability to address difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence. Customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations. Ability to work off-shift as required to respond to urgent needs. Your Profile College degree with an emphasis in distribution, warehouse, logistics, retail, or transportation. Some college plus equivalent work experience may be accepted. Preferably in the warehouse, manufacturing, or transportation industry 3-5 years of warehouse experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment 3-5 years of supervisory experience and inventory control experience in a manufacturing or distribution site Proven ability to develop and lead team members in meeting goals and objectives Strong attention to detail, extremely well-organized and are highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite. Proactive and results-oriented demeanor Strong customer focus, to provide a superior customer service to both internal and external customers. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations Knowledge of asset management procedures, and information used to optimize inventory levels and/or fill rates Proven experience in quality and safety Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and follow-through skills Maintain forklift certification Availability to travel, as needed Benefits Sandvik offers a comprehensive total compensation package including a competitive package of health, dental and disability insurance, and a 401(k)retirement savings plan. Compensation In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $92,500-$108,000 dependent on experience.
