A Day in the LifeMedtronic’s Operations Sourcing team supports manufacturing operations through supplier management, supply continuity planning, and risk mitigation activities that ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components. In this role, you will partner closely with Site Operations, Planning, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Finance, and Category Management to address supply challenges, improve supplier performance, and support long-term business objectives for the Tempe manufacturing site. This position is based at Medtronic’s Tempe, Arizona manufacturing site and requires a minimum onsite presence of four days per week. Occasional travel may be required to support supplier engagements and business objectives. As the Principal Operations Sourcing Specialist, you will serve as the site lead for raw material supply continuity and supplier performance management for Medtronic's Tempe manufacturing operations. This critical role is responsible for identifying and resolving material supply risks, leading cross-functional mitigation efforts, supporting supplier performance improvement initiatives, and enabling uninterrupted manufacturing operations through proactive planning and escalation management. Primary Responsibilities Lead supply continuity efforts for raw materials and components by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact manufacturing operations. Serve as the primary escalation point for supplier-related material issues, including shortages, backlog, backorders, inventory constraints, and delivery performance concerns. Partner with Operations Scheduling, Supply Network Planning, Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Operations Quality, and Category Management teams to resolve supply challenges and improve supplier performance. Facilitate and participate in Tier Reviews, Master Production Schedule (MPS) consensus meetings, and escalation forums to communicate supply risks, provide status updates, and align mitigation plans. Utilize and enhance supply management tools and processes, including shortage reporting, supplier Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP), risk assessments, and capacity reviews to proactively identify future supply constraints. Manage Strategic Inventory Purchases (SIP), Last Time Buys (LTB), and Phase-In/Phase-Out (PIPO) activities to support product lifecycle transitions and long-term supply continuity. Support supplier selection and compliance activities by coordinating audit preparedness and providing operational support during regulatory and quality audits. Drive supplier capacity planning, performance improvement, and supply assurance initiatives aligned with manufacturing requirements and business growth objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of supply chain, sourcing, procurement, materials management, operations planning, or supplier management experience; or Advanced degree with 5 years of applicable experience. Experience managing supplier performance, material availability, or supply continuity activities within a manufacturing environment. Experience leading cross-functional issue resolution and escalation management for supply-related challenges. Experience using enterprise planning, purchasing, or enterprise resource planning systems to support supply chain operations. Preferred Qualifications Experience in medical device, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing industries. Experience managing raw material categories such as electronics, injection molded components, metals, packaging, or commercial off-the-shelf components. Knowledge of supplier capacity planning, inventory strategies, including Strategic Inventory Purchases (SIP), Last Time Buys (LTB), and Phase-In/Phase-Out (PIPO) processes. Experience with SAP, Blue Yonder, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, Power BI, supplier risk assessment tools, or supply planning processes. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Lean Six Sigma, or similar operations and supply chain credentials. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
