Discover Impactful Work: The Business Development Representative is an early-career commercial role for a scientifically trained professional looking to transition from the laboratory into sales within the bioproduction industry. This role supports field sales representatives by reviewing and qualifying inbound and marketing-generated leads, engaging prospective customers, and identifying opportunities for follow-up. The ideal candidate has laboratory or biotechnology experience, strong scientific knowledge, and an interest in building a career in sales. What will you do? Review, prioritize, and qualify inbound and marketing-generated leads. Contact prospective customers to understand their scientific needs, applications, timelines, and potential opportunities. Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate field sales representative. Support field sales teams with prospecting, account development, and customer follow-up within assigned regions. Follow up on leads from campaigns, webinars, trade shows, and other marketing activities. Maintain accurate lead and opportunity information in CRM systems. Develop knowledge of bioproduction products, workflows, customers, and sales processes. Partner with Sales, Marketing, and technical teams to improve lead conversion and pipeline development. Own the ongoing tracking of biotech VC funding within your territory and use funding events as triggers for prospecting and account development Keys to success Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific field. 2+ years laboratory, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, or related technical experience. Strong communication, organization, and customer engagement and CRM management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with scientific and technical customers. Long term desire to develop a career in sales or business development. Career Development This role provides an opportunity to develop customer engagement, lead qualification, opportunity management, and consultative selling skills, with a pathway toward future field sales, account management, or business development roles within bioproduction.
