Job Description Location Miskin, south Wales Salary up to £36,000 depending on experience As a Quality Inspector at Renishaw plc, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our manufactured products through meticulous inspection, testing, and documentation processes, contributing to our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Working with multiple Group Manufacturing functions to inspect suspected defective parts and/or processes. Capture quality problems and effectively define the issue(s) into detailed problem statements. Perform dimensional and visual inspection of components as required. This will include interpretation of Engineering drawings and specifications and the use of a variety of inspection and measuring equipment. Carrying out Goods-In Inspection functions to ensure incoming goods are managed and inspected. Managing the physical quarantine of defective parts Re-packaging and returning defective parts to suppliers for re-work or investigation Identifying and communicating opportunities for improved process control and/or DFM-driven cost-down. Ownership of departmental metrics and adhering to targets. Contribute to reporting requirements. Key requirements Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing or engineering environment, preferably within precision engineering. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Proficiency in using a wide range of measuring equipment, including callipers, micrometres, height gauges, and bore gauges. Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) is highly desirable, including operation and basic programming. Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys). Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with colleagues and report writing. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience). Basic computer literacy for data entry and report generation. Person specification As the successful candidate you will need a sound problem solving mindset and a logical approach to varied technical challenges. You will need to be self-motivated and able to learn quickly, work independently and deliver with limited local support; as well as maintain a professional behaviour to interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
