Electrical Engineer - NPI
ASML · Wilton, CT, USA
Job description
Introduction to the job ASML is a global leader in advanced lithography systems used by the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers. As an Electrical Engineer, you will help develop complex electrical hardware, interconnects, controls, and integration solutions for ASML’s most advanced lithography platforms. This role is part of ASML’s newest product-development work for HPP, the High Productivity Platform, which brings together proven NXE platform capabilities with advanced EXE technology. HPP will help shape the next generation of ASML systems by combining high-productivity performance, cutting-edge architecture, and deep cross-functional engineering collaboration. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology used by leading semiconductor manufacturers such as TSMC, Intel, Samsung, and SK Hynix—helping enable the advanced chips that power products, platforms, and AI infrastructure from companies such as NVIDIA, Apple, AMD, Qualcomm, and OpenAI. ASML systems are widely regarded as some of the most complex machines ever built, with individual tools valued at more than $100 million. Role and Responsibilities In this role, you will work from concept through realization, integration, validation, release, and product sustainment. You will partner with mechanical, software, systems, manufacturing, service, and supplier teams to transform complex requirements into robust electrical engineering solutions that support ASML product performance, quality, and customer success. Translate system, module, and stakeholder needs into clear electrical requirements, interface definitions, design concepts, and verification criteria. Develop robust electrical hardware solutions for ASML modules and systems, balancing performance, reliability, cost, schedule, compliance, manufacturability, and serviceability. Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, functional overviews, technical specifications, test plans, design documentation, and release artifacts. Plan and support prototype bring-up, design verification, validation testing, qualification, and system integration to demonstrate release readiness. Use engineering analysis, simulation, lab measurements, and test data to debug issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Lead or support technical reviews, failure investigations, risk discussions, and decision-making with cross-functional engineering partners. Partner with suppliers, manufacturing, customer support, and service teams to support realization, production readiness, field issue resolution, and continuous product improvement. Manage configuration, requirements traceability, engineering changes, technical risks, dependencies, and open issues through disciplined engineering processes. Communicate technical status, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and leadership. Follow ASML environmental, health, and safety policies and proactively identify and mitigate safety risks in design, test, lab, and integration environments. Education & experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field required. Master’s degree or PhD preferred. Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience required. Experience with electronic design automation tools and printed circuit board design. Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, validation, and verification activities. Skills Technical & functional skills Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuits, power distribution, grounding, signal integrity considerations, safety circuits, and system-level tradeoffs. Ability to work with electrical requirements, specifications, interfaces, verification criteria, and traceability in a complex product-development environment. Familiarity with product-development lifecycle practices, including integration, verification, validation, configuration management, change control, and release readiness. Hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills using engineering analysis, simulation, lab measurements, and test data. Experience with ECAD, EDA, and electrical design tools such as Mentor Graphics xDX/xPCB Designer, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, PSpice, or similar tools preferred. Hands-on experience with electronic laboratory equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, electronic loads, signal generators, logic analyzers, or similar tools. Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, or other scripting and automation tools for analysis, simulation, test automation, data processing, or troubleshooting preferred. Ability to communicate technical concepts, design decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Behavioral & leadership skills Takes ownership of complex technical problems and drives them to clear, data-backed resolution. Works effectively in ambiguity while balancing quality, speed, risk, and stakeholder needs. Builds alignment across teams through clear priorities, collaborative problem solving, and thoughtful escalation. Builds trust by surfacing risks early, following through on commitments, and helping teams make informed decisions. Demonstrates ASML’s values of Challenge, Collaborate, and Care. Shares knowledge, supports peers, and contributes to a learning-oriented engineering culture.
