The NPI Material Buyer is responsible for supporting the Instrument Engineering Team for end-to-end material procurement and inventory execution for new product introduction (NPI) builds. This role partners closely with engineering, quality, and suppliers to ensure timely availability of prototype and production materials, accurate inventory tracking, and clear communication of cost, manufacturability, and quality feedback throughout the development lifecycle. This position reports to the Director/ Manager NPI and is part of the Global Supply chain team located in Bengaluru and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Generate and manage purchase requests, RFQs and subsequent purchase orders (POs) for prototype and production materials to support NPI and ramp builds, ensuring cost, lead time, and supply risks are clearly communicated by tracking supplier commitments and late or at-risk deliveries Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, answering questions related to POs, delivery schedules, specifications, DFM feedback and negotiate pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, commercial terms, to ensure cost-effective and timely material availability for prototype and production materials Maintain supplier databases, including addition of non-production material suppliers, contact information, capabilities, certifications, pricing history and lead times Coordinate material receiving, including import & export logistics, and ensure accurate logging of received parts Manage lab Stores and Track inventory levels using Excel or similar tools, maintaining clear visibility into on hand, consumed, and allocated materials The essential requirements of the job include: Bachelor’s degree in science, Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field, with 8+ years of experience in material procurement, supply chain, or NPI support within a hardware or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of engineering requirements and material planning. Hands-on experience managing RFQs, supplier quotations, purchase orders (POs), and procurement activities from prototype through production. Strong analytical and Excel skills for inventory management, demand planning, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. Proven ability to work directly with suppliers and effectively communicate technical, cost, quality, and supply chain issues with cross-functional teams. Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements Available for periodic travel (10–25%) to support manufacturing operations, process implementation, and cross-functional collaboration across multiple sites. Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 25 lbs, any other physical requirements It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Experience working in an ISO 13485 regulated environment, with an understanding of quality, documentation, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with DFM/DFA concepts Experience working with contract manufacturers or machine shops Exposure to quality systems and non-conformance feedback loops Join our winning team today.
