Location/Division Specific Information Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of scientists, industry thought-leaders and therapeutic guides. The Shipping Assistant will work on site at our GMP Laboratory facility in Athlone as part of our Lab Support team to provide logistical support to the lab facility as it relates to the shipment and tracking of pharmaceutical related material to and from the site. A day in the Life A typical day in this role focuses on ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant movement of GMP samples, consumables, and deliveries across the Athlone site. Throughout the day, the role involves using a dedicated vehicle to transport materials between buildings, ensuring samples and consumables are protected from weather exposure, temperature fluctuations, physical damage, and other risks that could affect their integrity. Particular attention is given to maintaining the condition of packaging, labels, and associated documentation throughout the transportation process. As the Athlone campus continues to expand, the role supports an increasing volume and frequency of transfers across greater distances. Deliveries are collected, recorded as required through data entry activities, and distributed to designated drop-off locations across the site's buildings throughout the day. GMP compliance is central to all activities, with transportation and handling carried out in accordance with applicable procedures to maintain sample and material integrity and provide a dependable service to teams across the campus. The role also works closely with Central Receiving and Lab Support, providing additional cover and assistance when required. Priorities may change throughout the day depending on operational needs, so flexibility, reliability, attention to detail, and effective coordination with colleagues are important aspects of the role. Overall, each day contributes to keeping samples, materials, and deliveries moving safely and efficiently across the Athlone site, supporting both day-to-day operations and the continued growth of the campus. Transport GMP samples and consumables safely between buildings using a dedicated vehicle Ensure sample integrity by protecting materials from weather exposure, temperature fluctuations, and physical damage Support the increased volume, frequency, and distance of inter-building sample and material transfers driven by site expansion Maintain GMP compliance during all transportation activities Protect the integrity of packaging, labels, and documentation during transport Provide reliable transportation service to support the campus, and continued expansion of the Athlone site Support data entry duties for deliveries Disperse deliveries to dedicated drop off locations in buildings throughout the day Provide cover when needed for other functions within Central Receiving and Lab Support Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager Education and Experience Leaving Certificate or 3rd level related course/certificate Experience within a regulated GMP environment is beneficial Experience within a manufacturing /process driven environment adhering to SOPs and procedures Looking to work in a fast paced Pharmaceutical environment – this may be the position for you?
