This position reports to: Team Manager – Industrial Software Research __ As a Research Scientist in Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity, you will shape the future security architecture and design of ABB's software-based products, with a focus on protecting industrial systems in an increasingly connected world. We are looking for a team member with a proven research track record and a drive to translate cutting-edge academic work into real-world industrial environment. You will join a highly motivated, international team of scientists at ABB Research, tackling complex challenges facing digital capabilities within critical infrastructure today. The work model for the role is: Hybrid You will be mainly accountable for: Contribute to and/or lead research projects that turn state-of-the-art research results into effective software solutions for ABB Create prototypes of innovative concepts with real business impact Evaluate new technologies and assess their impact on ABB products and roadmaps Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports Build a network in the company and actively disseminate your knowledge and expertise Qualifications for the role: PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Hands-on experience in software engineering and system design Deep theoretical and practical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: OT security, computer security, distributed systems, embedded systems, secure communications, or applied cryptography Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Rust Proven publication track record at top-tier scientific venues Proven ability to drive ideas from concept to working prototype Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset across multidisciplinary teams More about us: At the ABB research center located in Baden-Dättwil in the proximity of Zurich, we work on cutting-edge technologies that shape the future of our products.
