This position reports to: Planning & Fulfilment Manager __ As Planning Lead for our Analytical business line, you'll be at the centre of ensuring our operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with customer demand. By transforming forecasts, capacity requirements, and business priorities into achievable production plans, you'll play a critical role in balancing service, inventory, and operational performance. Working closely with Supply Chain, Production, Customer Service, Finance, and Planning teams, you'll drive informed decision-making through effective scheduling, demand planning, and S&OP processes, helping ABB deliver on its commitments while continuously improving planning accuracy and business performance. Your Role and Responsibilities In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. Lead the development and maintenance of production plans and time-phased build schedules, translating forecasts, demand, and workload requirements into achievable operational plans. Manage demand and capacity planning activities, balancing customer requirements, production capability, and inventory targets to optimise business performance. Monitor and improve planning accuracy through the establishment and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular reporting against production, shipment, inventory, and business plans. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Production, Customer Service, Materials Planning, Finance, and Supply Chain teams, to ensure plans remain aligned and achievable. Oversee master scheduling, load levelling, bottleneck management, and production lead times, utilising best-practice planning methodologies and Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles where appropriate. Maintain ERP planning parameters and manage daily MRP activities, including exception message resolution and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved locally. Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes by providing input on demand, capacity, operational plans, and the feasibility of meeting business requirements. Analyse production and supply performance, providing accurate delivery commitments, driving continuous improvement, and resolving planning and fulfilment challenges across multiple product lines. Work model: on-site from our Stonehouse location {#LI-onsite} Qualifications for the RoleProven experience in Supply Chain Planning, Master Production Scheduling, Production Planning, or Operations Planning within a manufacturing environment, with responsibility for balancing demand, capacity, inventory, and production requirements. Strong experience in Demand Planning, Capacity Planning, and Master Production Scheduling (MPS), with the ability to translate forecasts, customer demand, and operational constraints into achievable production plans. Proven Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) experience, including participation in monthly planning cycles, capacity reviews, demand/supply balancing, and providing input on operational and financial plans. SAP/ERP planning system experience, including maintenance of planning parameters, management of MRP exception messages, production scheduling, and supply planning activities. Solid Inventory Management and Materials Planning expertise, with a demonstrated ability to optimize inventory levels while maintaining service levels, managing lead times, and supporting on-time customer delivery commitments. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, manage changing priorities, drive resolution of planning issues, and provide clear recommendations across Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Finance teams.
