Job Description Software Engineer Wotton under Edge Up to £37,000 depending on experience Renishaw is one of the world's leading engineering and scientific technology companies, with expertise in high precision metrology, healthcare and Additive Manufacturing (AM). We design and manufacture AM solutions based on a process called metal powder bed fusion (laser melting). Our products are used by customers around the world in cutting-edge engineering projects spanning sectors including aerospace, automotive and advanced manufacturing. As a Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing assembly and test systems, reusable software libraries, and manufacturing processes for next-generation Additive Manufacturing products. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will develop software solutions that interface with production equipment, instrumentation and automated systems, helping to bring new products from development into manufacture. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain domain knowledge in Additive Manufacturing whilst working with state-of-the-art technologies in a research and development environment. The position is based at New Mills, our global headquarters and does have hybrid working opportunities. From time-to-time, introduction of new software will require certain tasks to be carried out onsite, so flexibility may be required during key phases of these releases. Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain software for assembly and test systems used in the manufacture of AM products Develop and maintain reusable software libraries, frameworks and shared components that support multiple engineering projects and production systems Support the development and introduction of new manufacturing and test processes for new products Integrate software with hardware including sensors, motion systems, instruments and production equipment Contribute to the definition of software architecture, coding standards and best practices to promote consistency and maintainability Analyse test data and process metrics to support product and process development activities Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable engineering solutions Support validation and troubleshooting activities on production and development systems Key Requirements Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline Experience developing software using C# and .NET Understanding of software engineering principles including design, testing and debugging Ability to solve technical problems using a structured and analytical approach Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams Practical hands-on engineering aptitude, comfortable using basic tools and working with both software and hardware, including assembly, installation, troubleshooting and fault finding Desirable Requirements Experience developing reusable software libraries, SDKs or shared frameworks Experience developing WPF applications Experience interfacing software with hardware, instrumentation or automated systems Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly or test environments Understanding of data analysis and statistical techniques Experience using Visual Studio, Git and Azure DevOps Familiarity with Agile development methodologies Person Specification As a Software Engineer at Renishaw, you'll be enthusiastic about applying technology to solve real-world engineering challenges.
