The Finance Director, Czech Republic and Slovakia is accountable for the financial leadership, governance and business partnering agenda across the Czech Republic and Slovakia affiliate, ensuring that strategic decisions are supported by robust financial insight, disciplined resource allocation and strong compliance with corporate and local requirements. The successful individual will be responsible for maximizing financial performance and driving business growth and risk management across the Czech Republic and Slovakia affiliate by acting as a strategic partner, leading the Finance Team, driving innovation within the finance function including AI, providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders, managing the P&L, optimizing operational excellence, supporting financial reporting and data interpretation, securing internal controls and compliance, and maximizing synergies. Key Responsibilities Strategic Decision Partner to the GM and Affiliate Leadership Team Partner with the General Manager, Affiliate Leadership, Region and Area teams to provide strategic support for decision-making, challenge assumptions and propose practical, evidence-based solutions. Act as a trusted adviser by proactively monitoring and identifying opportunities and risks as they arise to consistently deliver on the business objectives. Work collaboratively with affiliate and regional stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions and contingency plans. Communicate actual results clearly and effectively, providing variance analysis and commentary that links financial performance to the underlying business drivers for internal and external stakeholders. Finance Team Leadership Provide leadership to build and develop a strong, high-performing AbbVie Finance Team, providing robust and value-added feedback. Act as a single point of contact for GM and Region / Area teams on financial topics; Lead the relationship with key internal stakeholders including AbbVie centers of excellence such as Tax, Treasury, Purchasing and Global Trade Compliance, together with accounting organizations such as Affiliate Financial Services, Internal Audit, the Controller organization and Operations. Act as the key interface with external auditors, tax advisers and authorities, customers, suppliers, government authorities and pharmaceutical associations, ensuring proactive and appropriate relationships while providing visibility of control matters to Area, FSS, and Internal Audit. P&L Management Manage & supervise the budget planning cycles including Last Best Estimate (LBE), Plan, LRP and Entity Plan:Provide guidance to Affiliate Finance Teams & Other internal Stakeholders Accurately forecast sales and financial performance, using and challenging commercial models and expense assumptions. Coordinate brands’ P&Ls, maintain overview of budget and spending; and Ensure plans are accurate and well supported, ensuring a balanced proposal with clearly defined assumptions. Risk & Opportunities Assessment:Anticipate market activities and key external risks that could affect the business. Ensure management is advised on exposure issues and that contingency plans are identified. Proactively identify business opportunities and potential changes in the environment & provide financial counsel and analysis for proposed strategic growth initiatives. Advise Affiliate and Area management in areas of resource prioritization. Operational Excellence (Demand, Supply & Customer Service) Lead, enhance and maintain the S&OP process to ensure sales forecasts are challenging and achievable, and that product demand and supply are appropriately managed. Monitor variables affecting supply and distribution performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed. Drive process improvement and digital innovation across the affiliate, including practical opportunities to use AI within Finance and across the wider affiliate. Supervise key distributor relationships; ensure effective inventory management and timely cash collections. Financial Reporting and Data Interpretation: Coordinate collaboration between Financial Shared Services (FSS) and local team to review, prepare and complete timely, well documented and accurate month-end closing; Supervise the monthly analysis to include appropriate variance analysis and provide clear and concise commentary to expand management’s understanding and drive for results; Manage the tracking and analysis of actuals versus budget for Affiliate, brands, functions and specific campaigns; Monitor local operations performance against financial plans/updates/LBEs Provide actual monthly and quarterly financial data and analysis in compliance with corporate reporting requirements. Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure adequate internal financial controls, corporate policies and administrative procedures are established, followed and enhanced. Communicate and update these across the affiliate as needed, provide guidance to optimize affiliate processes and promote effective asset management. Ensure the appropriate level of internal controls and analysis to mitigate credit and payment risks, minimize the risk of fraud, monitor and reduce DSO, and manage other critical treasury transactions appropriately. Ensure financial results are recorded in compliance with AbbVie financial policies, Sarbanes Oxley and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Maintain the integrity of financial and non-financial reports. Understand the impact of changing local laws, tax regimes and government pricing initiatives and implement changes as necessary to respond to these. Hold overall signing responsibility for the statutory financial statements of the legal entities across the affiliate, ensuring compliance with all local financial regulations and tax reporting requirements. Extensive business partnering experience with broad financial management and control experience (min 10 years) Experience of working in a matrix environment within a multinational company, including exchange and entity planning People leadership: experience managing and leading a complex organization with competing priorities. Experience leading complex projects and assignments across multiple divisions or businesses. Communicating with external stakeholders including tax authorities and auditors Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or other highly regulated sector is desirable, particularly as the role involves pricing, reimbursement, compliance and interaction with government and industry bodies. Global experience: international assignment and/or supported international projects with project management experience. Business, finance or accounting bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience; Professional accounting qualification with relevant post-qualification experience; Fluent English; In-depth knowledge of accounting as well as inventory management; Understanding of local and global fiscal and tax matters.
