Job Profile Title: Buyer IV Location/ Division Specific Information Bryan Dairy - Electronics Division How will you make an impact? As a Buyer IV, you will play a key role in optimizing Jabil’s supply chain by developing and managing strategic supplier relationships, optimizing material costs, and ensuring reliable sourcing options for assigned commodities and strategic materials. You will partner with Purchasing, Planning, Materials, Supply Chain Management, and Business Unit leadership to support customer requirements, improve supplier performance, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain optimization. You will also provide supervision, training, and support to Purchasing staff within the workcell while contributing to Jabil Supply Chain Management initiatives and strategies. What will you do? Select suppliers based on overall cost and benefit, including price, duty, freight, flexibility, service, performance, quality, and terms and conditions. Monitor, track, and provide feedback on supplier performance related to overall cost, delivery, and quality. Communicate Jabil expectations to suppliers and conduct supplier audits/visits, certifications, and performance reviews to develop and continuously improve the supply base. Understand suppliers, their capabilities, market trends, and technologies for assigned commodities. Ensure workcell Purchasing and Planning staff have the appropriate training, tools, and resources to successfully perform their job functions. Provide supervision and training to staff within the workcell. Assist the hiring manager by participating in recruiting and hiring activities. Support, execute, and provide input to improve Jabil Supply Chain Management initiatives and strategies. Supervise decisions related to component and material acquisitions, ensuring reliable sourcing options from the Approved Manufacturer’s List (AML) and appropriate options for the business. Negotiate terms and conditions that protect the best interests of Jabil and its customers, including liability terms, special stocking arrangements, and other agreements outside standard Jabil terms and conditions. Work with Planners and Buyers to control stocking and track excess and obsolete materials. Partner with Materials Quote Analysts to quote new and existing materials. Frequently re-quote and negotiate to capitalize on cost-reduction opportunities. Track and control workcell metrics managed by Planners and Buyers, including RTV, obsolete materials, and stock materials. Present cost and quotation proposals to Business Unit Managers (BUMs). Analyze and project component purchase prices that accurately reflect inventory value for a financial period as part of the Standard Costing process. Optimize the overall cost of materials. Provide input to determine quoted costs to customers that are competitive while maximizing Materials Price Variance (MPV). Continuously optimize MPV by reducing material costs and limiting unfavorable PPV/MPV. Work with BUMs to obtain customer authorization for additional expenses, including material premiums, freight, and tooling charges incurred on the customer’s behalf. Develop Supply Chain strategies unique to customers or Business Units for strategic materials. Understand customer business requirements and work with the Purchasing Manager and SCM to determine the best approach to meet customer needs. Influence customer Supply Chain strategies to leverage Jabil’s capabilities and strategies. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. How will you get here? Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Experience: Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or a related field. Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercial terms. Experience working with material costs, quotations, inventory, and supply chain metrics. Experience providing guidance, training, or supervision to Purchasing or Supply Chain team members. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong knowledge of purchasing and supply chain processes. Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills. Ability to evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, service, and overall value. Understanding of commodity markets, supplier capabilities, and applicable technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze material costs, inventory values, PPV/MPV, and cost-reduction opportunities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with Purchasing, Planning, Materials, Supply Chain Management, Business Unit leadership, customers, and suppliers. Ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business and customer requirements. Ability to train, coach, and provide direction to workcell Purchasing and Planning staff. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong negotiation, presentation, and decision-making skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable purchasing/supply chain systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment. Experience working with customer Approved Manufacturer’s Lists (AML). Experience with Standard Costing, PPV, and MPV processes. Experience negotiating non-standard commercial agreements, liability terms, and special stocking arrangements. Experience developing strategic sourcing and supply chain strategies.
