This position reports to: Center of Excellence Leader - LCA & Ecodesign __ The work model for the role is: hybrid/ #LI-Hybrid Key responsibilities This role has a unique structure focusing primarily on Packaging, while also maintaining broader Product expertise. You will drive circularity principles in Packaging design, ensuring regulatory compliance with PPWR mandates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams globally. On the Product sustainability side, you will serve as a subject matter expert for assigned product lines, execute LCA studies and EPDs, drive eco-design principles implementation, and support local sustainability pilots. You'll interface with key stakeholders across global Competence Centers and Manufacturing Units, championing Sustainability as a competitive advantage. This role is contributing to the Center of Excellence LCA & Eco-design in Innovation & Common Module Agile Unit, Smart Power Division. You will be mainly accountable for: Develop and harmonize Packaging Sustainability and Circularity requirements for ABB Smart Power portfolio Ensure packaging strategies comply with EU Packaging Regulations (PPWR) and emerging legislative requirements Establish partnerships with local packaging reference persons, suppliers, and external committees supporting pilot projects for sustainable packaging solutions Monitor regulatory trends in packaging sustainability and provide compliance recommendations Conduct lifecycle assessments LCAs of Products & Packaging materials and processes to identify optimization opportunities Manage EPD projects ensuring compliance and market credibility Drive eco-design implementation and optimize environmental KPIs Support Division Sustainability targets through collaboration Qualifications for the role A bachelor's or higher degree in design, materials or other relevant sciences. 2-4+ years of experience in packaging development with focus on sustainability and circular economy principles. Knowledge of packaging materials and their environmental impact Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Familiarity with Ecodesign methodologies Familiarity with regulatory compliance in packaging industry Passionate about Circularity and Sustainability topics with an innovative mindset. Highly motivated team-player with a collaborative, learning-oriented, and solutions-focused approach. Ability to work cross-functionally and interface with global stakeholders.
