DESCRIPTION: Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as an Engineer I, Software and contribute to the development of software solutions that support scientific research and laboratory operations. In this role, you will participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications, including web applications, APIs, and cloud-based services. You will work closely with software engineers, scientists, product teams, and other cross-functional partners to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. This role provides an opportunity to strengthen your software engineering skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and continue developing as part of a collaborative engineering team. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field • No prior professional software development experience required • Strong programming fundamentals in one or more languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript • Familiarity with modern web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks • Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design principles • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and modern application architectures • Experience using version control systems such as Git • Basic understanding of CI/CD practices and agile software development methodologies • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and containerization technologies such as Docker is preferred • Familiarity with automated testing and software quality practices • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to implement well-defined software features, troubleshoot issues, and participate in code reviews with guidance from more experienced engineers • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment • Ability to clearly document technical solutions and processes • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
