We are looking for a Trace Analysis and E&L Scientist to join us at GSK. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic analytical scientist to join a trace analytical team in an industry leading pharmaceutical company. The successful candidate will join a team that utilises state-of-the-art LC-MS and GC-MS instrumentation to provide key information for projects at all stages of pharmaceutical development. In this hands-on, lab-based position the successful candidate will primarily undertake trace analysis of extractable and leachables, with the potential to support trace analysis for mutagenic impurity and elemental impurity control, in pharmaceutical samples by mass spectrometry (LC-MS(/MS), GC-MS(/MS) and ICP-OES/MS). The successful candidate will work with a high level of autonomy and contribute to analytical projects (from sample preparation through to final report) as well as leading the development of trace level control strategies for individual projects, contributing to regulatory submissions, and overseeing completion of work packages placed at CROs. Develop sample preparation approaches and strengthen analytical capability within the laboratory. Develop, optimise, validate or verify LC-MS and GC-MS methods for project needs. Assess extractables and leachables risk and deliver practical risk mitigation strategies for individual projects. Lead analytical work from sample preparation through data interpretation, reporting and project recommendations. Contribute to regulatory submissions and oversee agreed work packages delivered by contract research organisations Why you? Basic Qualifications & Skills: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field. Hands-on experience working in an analytical laboratory. Practical gas chromatography experience, with the ability to apply chromatographic principles to laboratory problems. Hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or GC-MS Experience developing, validating, verifying or running analytical methods and producing high-quality data and reports. Ability to work independently, solve technical problems and manage analytical work to completion. Strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply: Experience in quantitative trace analysis by MS Experience optimising and/or developing chromatographic and instrument methods Experience in risk assessment and mitigation of risk Experience in a regulated GMP laboratory Location: We are looking for the role to be based in Stevenage, supporting the Ware R&D site when required. For candidates seeking to be located at our Stevenage site, this role will temporarily be based at Stevenage. However, the Company plans to relocate its offices to Ware. The location of this role will therefore subsequently change to Ware in accordance with timelines to be set by the Company.
