This role is part of Alcon's Quality & Regulatory Affairs function, a team that ensures our products are in compliance with global, local, and internal regulations and meet the strictest standards of quality as we help people see brilliantly. The Associate I, Quality Control Lab - Microbiology (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is responsible for performing microbiological testing and supporting laboratory operations, with a focus on environmental monitoring, aseptic practices, and product quality. This role contributes to product release, validation, and regulatory compliance, requiring strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Specifics include: Performing routine and advanced microbiological analysis of raw materials, finished goods, packaging components, and samples related to complaints and investigations in accordance with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) Conducting environmental monitoring activities while maintaining aseptic practices within the Quality Control Lab Collecting and analyzing environmental and utility samples critical to product quality Recording, calculating, interpreting, and reporting microbiological test results accurately in required systems Supporting product and process validation, product release, and compliance with regulatory and company standards Owning and revising SOPs and ATPs (Analytical Testing Procedures) related to microbiological testing, laboratory operations, and equipment Executing investigative testing to support laboratory investigations and drive scientific problem-solving Performing peer review of data to ensure accuracy and compliance Training team members on microbiological methods, laboratory practices, and internal procedures Ensuring adherence to GDP (Good Documentation Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) with accurate, complete, and compliant documentation aligned with GxP requirements Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing processes and integrate laboratory results Utilizing systems such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), TrackWise, and Metasys WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English Work Hours: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM CST – 5:00 PM CST, occasional off-shift support may be required Travel Requirements: 0% Location: Onsite Relocation is Available Sponsorship is Not Available PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Degree in Biology, Microbiology preferred or in related fields such as Chemistry or Biochemistry Working knowledge of GDP and GMP principles HOW TO THRIVE AT ALCON: Collaborate with teammates to share standard processes and learnings as work evolves!
