Join Bavarian Nordic as Manager of the Biochemistry scientist team and support the quality of vaccines that help protect lives around the world. Your team and leadership environment Biochemistry consists of 10 laboratory technicians and nine scientists organised across two teams. In this role, you will lead the scientist team and work closely with colleagues across the area. The area performs analytical testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, process development samples, stability samples and control cells for extraneous agents. Techniques include physico-chemical testing, ELISA, HPLC and hemadsorption assays. Biochemistry also performs method development, validation and comparability testing. You will join a QC department of approximately 90 employees across six teams. Our Core Leadership Team of Senior Managers works closely with First-Line Managers, the Operational Excellence Partner and a Quality Integrator to develop people and processes and maintain strong quality oversight. QC is undergoing significant change as we support increased production demands, improve efficiency and reduce lead times. As a first-line manager, you will translate changing priorities into clear direction while maintaining employee engagement, well-being and a strong quality mindset. Your responsibilities Lead and develop the scientist team. Provide clear direction, regular feedback and individual development planning. Coach your scientists, strengthen competencies and create psychological safety while holding the team accountable for high-quality results. Balance scientific and operational priorities. Maintain an overview of the scientists’ workload and operational risks. Align priorities across routine analytical activities, method development, validation and comparability testing, adjusting plans as QC and manufacturing needs change. Ensure quality and robust processes. Ensure the team’s work complies with cGMP and the Bavarian Nordic Quality Management System. Promote data integrity, accurate documentation and inspection readiness, and help maintain robust processes across the analytical sample lifecycle. Strengthen collaboration and improvement. Work closely with the laboratory technician team and stakeholders across QC and manufacturing. Use data and digital tools to improve coordination, address bottlenecks and support efficient analytical workflows and reduced lead times. Your profile You are a people-oriented leader who can support scientific specialists, create structure and maintain momentum in a changing GMP environment. You enjoy developing others and connecting scientific work with operational priorities. A relevant scientific degree and experience from a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment, preferably within QC biochemistry or analytical testing. An understanding of analytical methods and experience relevant to method development, validation or comparability testing. Leadership experience from QC, a laboratory or a similar area is an advantage, with the ability to coach specialists and support their professional growth. A solid understanding of cGMP, data integrity and Quality Management Systems, and confidence using LIMS or other digital laboratory tools. An ability to prioritise competing activities, communicate expectations clearly and build effective relationships across scientific and operational teams.
