The Opportunity The Global Sustainability Manager plays a critical executional role in operationalizing Abbott’s sustainability strategy and 2030 Global Sustainability Plan through high‑quality ESG reporting, disclosure support, and stakeholder enablement. Reporting to the Director, Global Sustainability, this role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, consistency, and assurance‑ready documentation across sustainability disclosures, ESG mandatory reporting, sustainability operations, and customer ESG requirements. This position works out of our Willis Tower or Abbott Park, IL locations within the Sustainability team, which is part of Global Marketing and External Affairs. This role owns the integrity, consistency, and audit readiness of sustainability data and narratives across the Global Sustainability Report, ESG mandatory reporting, ratings and rankings submissions, and customer ESG tenders. The Manager ensures that all external sustainability claims are factually supported, internally aligned, and externally defensible. This position works with internal subject‑matter experts and sustainability leaders to translate sustainability into controlled processes, governed data flows, tools, and standardized deliverables that protect Abbott’s reputation and support long‑term business resilience. What You’ll Work On Strategy Translation and Disclosure Integration Translate sustainability strategy elements, including Scope 1–3, into disclosure-ready metrics, narratives, and supporting documentation, ensuring alignment across reporting frameworks, regulatory submissions, and customer-facing materials. Global Sustainability Report and Ratings & Rankings Lead core execution of the Global Sustainability Report, including data validation, documentation, version control, and narrative alignment, and support ESG ratings and rankings submissions with consistent, evidence-based inputs. ESG Mandatory Reporting and Regulatory Readiness Own execution of ESG mandatory reporting processes by maintaining assurance-ready documentation, evidence traceability, and disclosure controls across jurisdictions. Track requirements and ensure alignment between regulatory filings and external disclosures. ESG Tenders and Commercial Enablement Lead ESG tender enablement by ensuring all customer-facing materials are aligned with approved disclosures, supported by auditable data, and consistent across regions and business units. Maintain standardized ESG data packs, templates, and content libraries, and support customer and commercial team education. Data Integrity, Controls, and Assurance Readiness Establish and maintain data validation processes, documentation standards, and audit trails to ensure consistency and traceability across disclosures, regulatory submissions, and customer responses. Stakeholder Coordination and Governance Execution Coordinate cross-functional inputs and approvals, ensuring alignment between subject matter experts, disclosure owners, and commercial teams. Support implementation of structured workflows, templates, and reporting processes. External Trends and Positioning Monitor ESG regulatory developments, ratings methodologies, and peer disclosures, translating insights into clear implications for Abbott’s disclosures, documentation, and external positioning. Broader Sustainability Program Support In addition to core reporting and disclosure responsibilities, this role contributes to broader Global Sustainability team priorities, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs and cross-functional initiatives, supporting enterprise execution and capability building over time. Required Qualifications 5-8 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate reporting, regulatory compliance, or related functions, with demonstrated experience supporting complex, multi stakeholder deliverables Demonstrated experience managing assurance-ready ESG data, documentation, or disclosure processes Experience aligning multiple ESG frameworks and regulatory requirements into consistent outputs Strong ability to develop precise, externally credible disclosures and supporting materials Experience supporting customer ESG requirements, tenders, or commercial enablement Proven ability to operate in cross-functional, multi-stakeholder environments Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Sustainability, Engineering, Business Management, International Affairs, Public Policy Preferred Qualifications Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) Familiarity with ESG regulatory requirements across key jurisdictions Experience in healthcare or life sciences Ability to translate technical sustainability topics into clear external narratives and structured deliverables Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: www.abbottbenefits.com Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
