About the Role:We are looking for an exceptional Principal Engineer to join CrowdStrike’s Cloud Security engineering organization in Israel. This is a senior Individual Contributor (IC) role for a highly experienced technical leader who combines broad expertise across Cloud Security, strong architectural capabilities, and deep hands-on engineering skills. The Principal Engineer will operate across multiple teams and technology domains, helping shape the architecture and technical direction of CrowdStrike’s Cloud Security platform. This role is expected to go beyond architecture and design: we are looking for someone who remains close to the technology, can dive deeply into complex systems, prototype and write production-quality code, and work directly with engineering teams to solve our hardest technical challenges. The ideal candidate combines technical breadth with engineering depth - someone who understands the broader Cloud Security landscape while being capable of going deep into architecture, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, security technologies, and implementation details. You will work at the intersection of Cloud Security, large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and AI, partnering with senior engineers, engineering leaders, Product, and Security experts across Israel, Europe, and the US. This is not a people-management position. Success comes through technical leadership, architecture, hands-on engineering, and influence. What You'll Do:Serve as a senior technical leader across CrowdStrike’s Cloud Security engineering organization. Help define and drive the technical strategy and architecture across multiple Cloud Security domains and products. Maintain a broad technical view across the Cloud Security portfolio while diving deeply into the most complex technical challenges. Design architectures for highly scalable, distributed, cloud-native security systems. Remain hands-on with code, including prototyping, implementation of critical components, code reviews, and solving complex engineering problems. Lead major cross-team technical initiatives from concept and architecture through implementation and production. Identify architectural gaps, technical debt, scalability challenges, and opportunities to simplify and improve the platform. Establish technical patterns and engineering standards that can be adopted across multiple teams. Mentor and influence senior engineers, architects, and technical leaders across the organization. Partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to translate security and business requirements into strong technical solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies and determine how they can strengthen CrowdStrike’s Cloud Security platform. Drive the effective adoption of AI across products and engineering, including AI-assisted security capabilities and engineering productivity. Participate in critical technical decisions, architecture reviews, and complex customer or production challenges. What You'll Need:15+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in senior IC, architect, or technical leadership roles. Proven experience operating as a Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Architect, or equivalent senior technical IC in a large-scale engineering environment. Exceptional software engineering skills with a strong hands-on coding background. Strong architecture and system-design capabilities, particularly for large-scale distributed and cloud-native systems. Broad understanding of modern cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, containers, identity, networking, data, and cloud-native architectures. Strong understanding of cybersecurity and Cloud Security concepts and technologies. Ability to move effectively between high-level architecture and low-level technical implementation. Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and organizations without direct authority. Experience leading complex, cross-team technical initiatives from architecture through production. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes. Bonus Points:Deep experience in Cloud Security / CNAPP, including areas such as CSPM, CIEM, CWP, CDR, Kubernetes Security, DSPM, ASPM, or Shift-Left security. Experience building security products or platforms at significant scale. Experience working in both large technology companies and cybersecurity startups. Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure internals, Kubernetes, distributed systems, networking, or security sensors. Experience designing platforms that process and analyze large-scale security telemetry and cloud data. Practical experience with AI technologies, particularly their application to cybersecurity, engineering, or large-scale data analysis. Track record of patents, publications, open-source contributions, or other meaningful technical contributions.
