DESCRIPTION: Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Sr Staff Engineer, Systems Design. In this role, you'll develop innovative solutions across multiple technology platforms, from concept through implementation. Guide the technical direction of complex scientific instrumentation development while collaborating with cross-functional teams. You'll architect system-level solutions, provide technical leadership for product development initiatives, and support engineering teams. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to advanced technologies that help our customers advance scientific discovery and improve health outcomes. REQUIREMENTS: • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in systems engineering and technical leadership • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Physics, Optical Engineering or related field) • Additional specialized certifications in systems engineering methodologies beneficial • Deep expertise in systems architecture, requirements development, and systems integration • Strong background in multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software, optics) • Experience leading complex product development projects from concept through manufacturing • Record of developing innovative technical solutions for scientific instrumentation • Expertise in structured design methodologies (DFMEA, DOE, RCA) • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities • Excellence in technical documentation and specification development • Strong communication and presentation skills • Ability to support and develop engineering talent • Experience working in regulated environments (UL, IEC, agency certifications) • Success working in matrix organizations • Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed Compensation and Benefits The salary range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $149,500.00–$224,200.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
