Job Description Team Summary The Visa Asia Pacific Legal team manages Visa’s legal affairs across the Asia Pacific region. The team provides practical, commercially focused legal advice to help Visa achieve its business objectives while protecting Visa’s brand and reputation and managing legal and regulatory risk. The team partners closely with Visa’s product, commercial and other business functions and regularly collaborates with legal colleagues across Asia Pacific and Visa’s US headquarters. What a Senior Associate Counsel, Products and Solutions, Asia Pacific in Legal does at Visa: The position is for a highly motivated and skilled attorney to join Visa’s growing Asia Pacific Legal team, supporting Visa’s core business as well as new and evolving products and solutions. The position will report to the Vice President, Legal, Asia Pacific. The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to payment products and solutions and be able to apply this knowledge to Visa’s business initiatives. The candidate should possess excellent legal judgment, analytical capability and communication skills, together with strong commercial awareness and the ability to operate independently. The role covers a broad range of product, regulatory and commercial legal work. The successful candidate will support Visa’s business as it scales across multiple business lines and explores new payment technologies, business models and customer experiences. The scope of work is broad and dynamic and includes, but is not limited to: Designing, structuring and developing contracts for Visa’s current and new products, offerings and business initiatives. Drafting, negotiating and completing complex commercial, technology and strategic partnership agreements. Providing regulatory advice in relation to Visa’s products and solutions. Advising business and product teams on commercial structures, key legal risks and practical risk-mitigation approaches. Supporting business initiatives involving wallet partnerships, tokenization, agentic commerce and new or emerging AI and digital assets. Developing innovative contracting models to support product expansion, product enhancements and changing business requirements. Reviewing legal documents with meticulous attention to technical drafting accuracy, ambiguity and structural or logical defects. Communicating complex legal matters and recommendations clearly, concisely and practically to business stakeholders and counterparties. Working closely with Visa lawyers and business stakeholders across Asia Pacific and other regions, including Visa’s US headquarters. Managing multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Travelling internationally when required. Why this is important to Visa The Senior Associate Counsel will serve as a trusted legal adviser to Visa’s products business, which represents an important pillar of Visa’s future growth and strategy. The role is critical in ensuring that contracts and negotiations are managed efficiently while enabling Visa’s business to innovate, develop new solutions and expand into new areas within the fast-evolving global payments industry. The successful candidate will be a key member of Visa’s high-performing Legal team, advising on and managing products and solutions that drive innovation and development across the payments ecosystem. Projects you will be a part of: The successful candidate will be a member of a regional Legal team working at the forefront of new payment technologies, fintech innovation and evolving business models within an increasingly regulated environment. The role will involve advising on unique and novel legal challenges arising within the commercial, technology and payment sectors, including matters involving digital commerce, tokenization, AI, digital assets, wallet partnerships and other emerging payment solutions. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications We are looking for a strong and commercially minded lawyer who brings breadth of legal experience, excellent technical capability and a practical understanding of business and industry considerations. As a candidate, you should have: Six to eight years of post-qualification experience in payments and/or technology-related transactions, including experience gained at a top-tier law firm or multinational corporation. Strong knowledge and experience in intellectual property matters, particularly technology-related and/or marketing contracts. Excellent academic credentials, including a law degree from a well-recognized and reputable law school. Admission to practise law in a Commonwealth jurisdiction. Good working knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to financial, digital and payment services across multiple Asian jurisdictions. Demonstrated ability to manage and drive complex commercial and technology transactions, including international and regional agreements. Strong legal drafting skills, with meticulous attention to accuracy, clarity, contractual structure and the identification of ambiguity or legal risk. The ability to work independently and engage confidently with executive-level stakeholders with limited supervision, while being an effective team player. A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving, supported by strong business judgment and commercial awareness. The ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and concisely to multiple stakeholders, including senior executives. Excellent legal and analytical skills, with the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge and provide balanced recommendations regarding risks and benefits. The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and remain confident, mature and calm in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The ability to live and work in Singapore.
