The Senior FinOps Analyst will lead advanced FinOps analysis, cloud financial management, and strategic cost optimization across AbbVie’s cloud portfolio. Proactively partner with senior business, Finance, Cloud, Procurement, and Technology leaders to improve cloud spend transparency, forecasting accuracy, cost allocation, and value realization. Provide expert analysis, recommendations, and leadership in areas associated with cloud financial planning, procurement, provisioning, consumption governance, service utilization, and ongoing optimization of cloud resources and services. Analyze complex cloud usage patterns, financial performance, operating processes, and business demand through a FinOps lens; identify and evaluate alternative solutions; assesses financial, operational, and technical feasibility; and recommend approaches that optimize cloud spend, improve accountability, and align cloud investment to business outcomes. Responsibilities: Partner directly with senior Finance, Cloud, Engineering, Architecture, Procurement, BTS, and business stakeholders to understand cloud consumption drivers, strategic priorities, funding needs, and operating models across multiple business areas; identify and communicate opportunities to mature FinOps practices, strengthen financial governance, and improve cloud value realization. Lead complex analysis of cloud spend, usage, commitments, unit economics, allocation models, and demand trends across AbbVie to identify savings opportunities, risk areas, budget impacts, and enterprise-level optimization strategies; develops executive-ready insights, dashboards, and recommendations that influence financial planning and technology decision-making. Establish, improve, and govern FinOps processes including budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback, cost allocation, tagging standards, savings tracking, optimization intake, and accountability mechanisms; ensure alignment with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Proactively identify strategic opportunities to optimize cloud financial performance by evaluating existing and emerging cloud services, pricing models, procurement options, architectural patterns, and consumption behaviors; provides senior leaders with fact-based analyses and recommendations to improve cost efficiency, transparency, and business accountability. Develop and co-lead FinOps strategy, operating routines, performance reporting, and governance forums that support the strategic requirements of multiple business areas. Identify the financial and operational benefits of alternative strategies, ensure cloud financial management practices align with technology direction, and validate that optimization recommendations are measurable, sustainable, and actionable. Provide FinOps education, coaching, and consultation to technical and non-technical stakeholders to improve understanding of cloud cost drivers, usage patterns, forecasting assumptions, budget impacts, and optimization tradeoffs. Recommend process improvements and operating model changes needed to achieve enterprise cloud financial management objectives. Build and maintain strong working relationships across Finance, Cloud, Engineering, Architecture, Procurement, BTS, BMOs, BTOs, and business teams to support cloud initiatives, improve accountability, resolve financial and operational issues, and ensure stakeholder alignment on priorities, tradeoffs, and expected outcomes. Serve as a senior communication bridge across stakeholder groups by translating complex cloud financial and technical data into clear business insights; keep leaders informed of cost trends, forecast changes, optimization progress, risks, and emerging initiatives; and facilitates issue resolution to support informed decision-making. Act as a subject matter expert for FinOps analysis, cloud cost optimization, and cloud financial operations. Define analytical approaches, measurement methods, business cases, and prioritization criteria used to assess cloud investments, savings opportunities, and optimization initiatives across multiple business areas. Has defined authority and responsibility for a significant area of FinOps analysis and cloud financial management work, including financial, technical, operational, and quality aspects. Accountable for the accuracy of cloud spend data, forecasts, savings estimates, allocation logic, executive reporting, and the information used to support business justification, prioritization, and investment decisions. Required: Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience in Finance, Economics, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline; OR Master’s Degree with 7 years of experience; OR PhD with 3 years of experience. Demonstrated senior-level experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, cloud economics, technology finance, or related disciplines, including ownership of complex analysis, stakeholder recommendations, and financial governance practices. Strong understanding of cloud services, consumption models, cost drivers, commitment-based pricing, allocation methods, tagging strategies, optimization practices, and the financial levers that influence cloud spend and business value. Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret large and complex data sets, identify trends and root causes, quantify financial impacts, and translate findings into clear recommendations, dashboards, and executive-level presentations. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost allocation, savings validation, business case development, and financial planning processes in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Exercise significant latitude in determining analytical approaches, solving complex financial and operational problems, and developing recommendations with limited formal review. Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences and present complex cloud financial information to senior leaders. Preferred: FinOps certification, cloud provider certification, or demonstrated equivalent experience in FinOps practices, cloud cost optimization, or cloud financial operations preferred.
