Your Impact The Vertex Global Logistics Co-Op is a 6-month experiential training program for students currently working towards an undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or other related fields. What you will be doing: The Global Logistics Co-op supports advancement of strategic initiatives, improving business processes, and driving visibility to logistics performance across Vertex’s global supply chain and manufacturing network. This role provides hands-on experience in pharmaceutical supply chain strategy, transportation and warehousing, performance management, process standardization, and continuous improvement. The Co-op will support a variety of projects and analyses designed to improve effectiveness, scalability, and consistency of Global Logistics. Assignments may include strategy and roadmap initiatives, performance analytics and reporting, development of global standards and processes, supplier and capability assessments, benchmarking, and operational improvement opportunities. The position provides exposure to end-to-end pharmaceutical logistics, including transportation, warehousing, temperature-controlled supply chains, logistics service providers, and cross-functional collaboration in a global regulated environment. The Co-op will work with members of Global Logistics as well as stakeholders across Supply Chain and other partner functions with opportunities to gain direct exposure to logistics operations. Key Responsibilities: Logistics Strategy & Transformation Support strategic projects and initiatives focused on improving effectiveness, scalability, service, cost, and capabilities of the Global Logistics organization. Conduct research, benchmarking, and analysis to identify logistics industry trends, emerging capabilities, risks, and applicable opportunities. Support development and maintenance of Global Logistics strategic roadmap, project plans, business cases, presentations, and other decision-support materials. Participate in cross-functional projects and working sessions and assist with tracking actions, deliverables, milestones, and business outcomes. Support logistics supplier and capability assessments including analysis of service offerings, network capabilities, technology, and performance. Support evaluation emerging technology and AI-enabled use cases within Global Logistics, including opportunity identification, business value assessment, and development of recommendations or pilot concepts. Performance, Data & Analytics Assist in collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization of logistics performance data, including metrics related to service, cost, quality, compliance, and supplier performance. Support development and enhancement of performance scorecards, dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting. Analyze logistics data to identify trends, root causes, improvement opportunities, and insights to support business decisions. Support preparation for supplier business reviews and internal performance and governance meetings. Operational Exposure Gain exposure to transportation and warehousing operations supporting Vertex’s global pharmaceutical supply chain. Support selected operational analyses or improvement initiatives as business priorities and development opportunities arise. Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field. Previous internship, Co-op, academic project, or other experience related to supply chain, operations, logistics, analytics, or project management preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools preferred. Interest and experience with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, and their application to supply chain, logistics, analytics, and business process improvement. Comfortable working with data to identify trends, develop insights, and support business decision-making. Interest in supply chain strategy, transportation, warehousing, process improvement, and performance management. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities. Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate. Exposure to ERP, transportation management, warehouse management, or other supply chain systems is a plus. Interest in pharmaceutical / biotechnology supply chains, cold chain logistics, and working in a regulated global environment. Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future.
