About the opportunity As our Tax Manager - Germany , you will take full end-to-end ownership of all German tax topics while operating with a global mindset. Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, you will join a lean, agile team that prioritises fast decision-making, direct ownership, and continuous professional growth. In this role, you bridge the gap between core compliance and strategic business enablement. You won't just analyze tax codes - you will sit alongside Product, Legal, Finance, and Regulatory teams to evaluate tax implications, build operational systems, design robust controls, and launch innovative financial products. We handle a significant amount of our tax work in-house - supported by strong external partners giving you true end-to-end impact from local execution to cross-border advisory. Key Responsibilities Strategic Tax Advisory & Product Launch: Partner directly with Product, Business, and Legal teams to evaluate tax implications for new product launches, restructurings, and international expansion. Design scalable tax processes, workflows, and controls from scratch. Tax Audits & Authority Relations: Lead external tax audits, serve as the primary point of contact for German tax authorities, and manage relations with external tax advisors. Compliance & Filings: Oversee accurate, timely, and compliant tax filings across CIT, VAT, and Withholding Tax (WHT) in Germany. Stakeholder Enablement: Translate complex tax legislation into clear, pragmatic, and actionable advice for non-tax stakeholders across Product, Legal, Marketing and Accounting. Process Automation: Continuously identify tax efficiencies, drive automation, and refine internal tools (Workday as ERP). What You Bring to the Team Core Qualifications & Hard Skills: Qualified German Tax Advisor ( Steuerberater / in ): Official German tax advisor certification is mandatory . Experience: 5+ years of relevant tax experience within a leading tax consulting/accounting firm or fast-paced in-house tax function. Academic Background: Degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s) in Tax, Law, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. Technical Breadth: Comprehensive understanding across German CIT, VAT, and WHT, or an eagerness to cover the entire spectrum of tax topics end-to-end. Systems Affinity: Strong Excel skills and affinity for financial systems/automation (experience with Workday is a major plus). Languages: Professional fluency in both German and English (written and spoken). Key Competencies & Soft Skills: Pragmatic Problem Solver: You avoid copy-pasting tax laws.
