DESCRIPTION: As Data Visualization and Reporting Analyst, you will translate complex data into clear and compelling analytics outputs (e.g. dashboards, reports, and selected presentation-ready materials) that summarize performance, communicate insights, and tell actionable, data-driven stories. This includes building and transforming visualization-ready data sets, contributing to data analysis and insight development, and creating interactive resources in Power BI and similar tools. You will also support AI-enabled reporting and analysis workflows, including preparation of AI-ready data, use of approved AI tools to accelerate reporting and analysis, and development of repeatable approaches that expand access to analytics across the function. This unique and exciting role will enable you to collaboratively strengthen performance analytics, reporting, and visualization practices within Thermo Fisher’s Global Communications function, supporting analytics goals, stakeholder needs and the continued growth of a vibrant data-driven culture. Key Responsibilities: Reporting and Visualization Development: Independently or collaboratively create compelling dashboards, reports, and other analytics outputs to summarize data, communicate insights and support data-driven storytelling for diverse audiences. Power BI Dashboard Development: Develop effective, user-friendly dashboards in Power BI and Smartsheet, ensuring visual consistency with brand standards. Utilize basic Power BI queries to drive visualization, partnering with Communications Analytics Lead for more complex queries. Data Set Building: Create and maintain visualization-ready and AI-ready datasets, tags, and supporting structures that enable reliable reporting, analysis, and reuse. AI-Enabled Reporting and Analysis Support: Use approved AI tools to accelerate reporting, summarization, quality checks, visualization ideation, and preparation of first-draft insights; help test repeatable prompt- or GPT-based approaches that improve analytics workflows. Visualization Enhancement: Regularly identify and test new visuals from PBI App Source to improve clarity, usability, and effectiveness across the team’s reporting outputs. Data Analysis: Contribute to analysis of data to identify meaningful patterns and insights that support decision-making and data-driven storytelling. Best Practice Documentation: Support development of training materials, best practices, standard operating procedures, and educational materials to promote analytics success, support a growing data culture, and foster adoption and innovation. Qualifications and Skills Visualization Expertise: Strong, proven experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Quicksight or similar tools (preference for Power BI). Experience building visual DAX queries and m-code (or similar) as needed. Data Storytelling: Experience extracting insights from data and translating them into accurate and compelling stories through dashboards, reports, and other analytics outputs. Data Analysis: Experience identifying trends within large datasets, including running basic statistical hypothesis tests. AI Fluency: Experience using ChatGPT Enterprise or similar approved AI tools to support reporting, summarization, visualization development, insight drafting, or workflow efficiency. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences. Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to stay calm under pressure, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment. Education and Field Experience: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, psychology, business, or related field. 2+ years or relevant experience with demonstrated hands-on experience creating data visualizations, analyzing data and delivering impactful communications.
