Analyst, Global Banking, South Asia Pacific Country: Singapore The Analyst will support the South Asia Pacific Global Banking coverage team in managing and developing relationships with a portfolio of leading corporate and institutional clients across the region. Working closely with senior bankers and Santander's global product and coverage teams, the Analyst will play an important role in identifying and developing business opportunities, preparing strategic and financial analysis, supporting client engagement and coordinating the execution of transactions. A key objective of the role is to enhance the effectiveness of the coverage team by providing high-quality analytical, origination and execution support, enabling senior bankers to dedicate greater time to strategic dialogue with clients, development of investment banking ideas and origination of new business opportunities for Santander. Key responsibilities Client Coverage and Strategic Account Management – Support senior bankers in managing a portfolio of major corporate and institutional relationships across South Asia Pacific, developing a strong understanding of each client's strategy, financial position, capital structure, investment priorities and banking requirements. Origination and Investment Banking Ideas – Support the development of proactive ideas and business opportunities across Santander's product capabilities, including financing, debt capital markets, advisory, structured finance, transaction banking, markets and other relevant solutions. Strategic and Financial Analysis – Conduct financial analysis, valuation and capital structure analysis, peer benchmarking, industry research and market intelligence to identify strategic themes, client needs and actionable opportunities for Santander. Client Materials and Senior Banker Preparation – Prepare high-quality, concise and client-ready materials including pitch books, briefing notes, strategic account plans, relationship reviews and senior management presentations. Provide senior bankers with relevant client, sector and market intelligence ahead of client meetings and strategic discussions. Client and Sector Intelligence – Proactively monitor developments affecting the team's clients and priority sectors, including corporate strategy, M&A, capital expenditure, financing activity, shareholder developments, industry trends and relevant capital markets activity, and translate these developments into potential client dialogue and business opportunities. Opportunity and Pipeline Development – Work with senior bankers to identify, prioritise and track opportunities across the client portfolio. Maintain a disciplined view of the team's pipeline, expected revenues, next actions and product penetration, and help ensure timely follow-up on identified opportunities. Transaction Execution and Coordination – Support the origination and execution of transactions by coordinating with Santander's product teams and relevant internal stakeholders across Global Banking, Global Markets, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Operations, as well as teams across Santander's international network. Credit and Portfolio Management – Support credit origination and ongoing portfolio management, including preparation of credit applications and annual reviews, financial and exposure analysis, internal approvals and monitoring of client performance and credit developments. Cross-Border Coordination – Collaborate closely with Santander teams globally to connect South Asia Pacific clients with the Bank's international capabilities and ensure coordinated coverage and seamless execution of cross-border opportunities. Business Management / Team Effectiveness – Provide analytical and execution leverage to the coverage team by taking ownership of recurring analysis, information preparation, internal coordination and follow-up, allowing senior bankers to focus their time on strategic client engagement, origination and relationship development. Requirements Degree holder in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or a related discipline, or Engineering. Approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Structured Finance, Capital Markets or a related financial services role. Strong financial analysis and corporate finance skills, including the ability to analyse financial statements, capital structures, valuation and credit metrics. Good understanding of corporate and investment banking products and an interest in developing broader knowledge across financing, capital markets, advisory, transaction banking and markets. Excellent research and analytical capabilities, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear conclusions and actionable ideas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise, high-quality materials for senior bankers and senior client stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail and consistently high standards of execution. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, priorities and workstreams simultaneously, exercising sound judgement and taking ownership of deliverables on a timely basis. Highly motivated self starter who is proactive, intellectually curious and collaborative, with strong initiatives rather than simply respond to requests. Comfortable working across different countries, cultures and time zones in an international banking environment. Fluency in English is required.
