The PositionAs a Mechanical Engineer, Senior at Roche Tissue Diagnostics, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for leading the design concept generation, experimental validation, and mechanical system optimization for complex engineering projects. Exercising considerable discretion and independent judgment, you will bridge conceptual design and manufacturing implementation while mentoring peers across multidisciplinary teams. The Opportunity Lead Mechanical System Design: Generate innovative design concepts, participate in comprehensive design reviews, and establish architecture for complex products, systems, and components. Drive Experimental Testing & Validation: Design and execute independent experiments—utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies—to evaluate system performance, reliability, and interactions against specifications. Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Identify root causes of technical and manufacturing issues, implementing robust engineering solutions and process improvements to promote Quality First Time. Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead or participates in cross-functional technical initiatives, establish key operational interfaces across organizational groups, and deliver technical direction and actionable feedback to peers. Innovation & IP Creation: Develop novel, potentially patentable mechanical systems, components, or process technologies that advance overall project goals and organizational capabilities. Present & Communicate Findings: Synthesize complex experimental results and project outcomes into compelling technical presentations for diverse, cross-functional audiences. Who You Are Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related discipline; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred. Professional Experience: Minimum 8 years of directly related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree, 4 years with a Master's degree, or 2 years with a Ph.D. Technical & Domain Expertise: Expert knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, complex system design, reliability testing, and practical application of Design of Experiments (DOE). Problem-Solving & Innovation: Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought, with a track record of developing innovative design concepts and troubleshooting complex technical issues. Collaboration & Leadership: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior colleagues, and communicate project results effectively to broad audiences. Relocation benefits are not approved for this posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $96,200 - $178,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed in this link.
