The Director, Corporate Communications, will drive Danaher's visibility and credibility in the marketplace, developing media relationships and thought leadership platforms that elevate the company's voice on the issues that matter most to its stakeholders. Their work will directly influence how Danaher is perceived by the press, industry peers and the broader public, ensuring the company's story is told with consistency, clarity and impact. This position reports to the Vice President of Corporate Communications and is part of the Communications function and will be based in Washington, DC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: · Media Relations Strategy. Own and execute Danaher's proactive and reactive media relations strategy, building relationships with key trade, business, and national media to secure coverage that advances enterprise priorities. · Thought Leadership Development. Identify opportunities and develop platforms (bylines, op-eds, speaking engagements, awards, rankings) that position Danaher and its executives as authorities on innovation, science, and operational excellence. · Message Development & Content Creation. Craft press releases, media statements, briefing materials, and narrative content that translate complex business and scientific topics into clear, compelling stories for external audiences. · Reporter Engagement. Serve as a primary point of contact for media inquiries, proactively pitching stories and managing relationships with reporters and editors to build long-term trust and credibility. · Cross-Functional Partnership. Partner with Communications, Investor Relations, and OpCo communications leaders to ensure media and thought leadership efforts reinforce enterprise-wide themes and pull through consistently across the organization. The essential requirements of the job include: · Education. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. · Years of Experience. Minimum of 8 years of progressive corporate communications or media relations experience, including direct experience leading media strategy at a publicly traded company or top-tier PR/communications agency. · Industry Experience. Prior experience in a public, multi-industry, or diversified industrial/life sciences/healthcare company of comparable scale and complexity to Danaher (e.g., Fortune 500 or equivalent global enterprise). · Media Relationship Portfolio. Demonstrated track record of securing earned media coverage in national business, trade, and industry press, with existing relationships with key reporters and editors covering life sciences, diagnostics, or industrial technology. · Systems Proficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) required; experience with media monitoring and distribution platforms (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Business Wire) required; AI fluency required, including hands-on experience with generative AI tools such as Claude and Copilot. The annual salary range for this role is $180,000-$215,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
