Job description
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve. We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that. Here’s what this particular role covers. System Integration Engineer 🛠️ About our Systems Integration Team Wayve's Systems Integration team brings together hardware and software across autonomous vehicle platforms, development benches and Hardware-in-the-Loop systems. The team prototypes, assembles, brings up and troubleshoots complex systems to improve the performance, reliability and repeatability of our next-generation vehicle platforms. 🧠 Your day-to-day As a System Integration Engineer at Wayve, you'll lead the integration and bring-up of cutting-edge autonomous vehicle platforms. You'll work across hardware and software boundaries to prototype, assemble and test complex systems both in-vehicle and on development benches, while supporting vehicle integration development and issue troubleshooting to improve the performance and reliability of our next-generation systems. 🧩 What you’ll be working on: • Integrate and bring up autonomous systems on internal and partner vehicles. • Architect, prototype and evaluate new hardware systems. • Support fleet troubleshooting and issue resolution. • Inform and improve system integration processes and workflows. • Bring up and maintain development benches and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems. 🙌 You should apply if: • You have 7+ years of experience integrating and developing complex systems. • You bring broad technical comprehension across electrical, mechanical and software systems. • You have proven hands-on experience debugging and assembling hardware/software systems. • You communicate and collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines. • You bring multidisciplinary troubleshooting skills, a strong sense of ownership and the initiative to drive issues through to resolution. • You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Nice to have • You have experience working on autonomous vehicles, robotics or similar advanced systems. • You are skilled in prototyping electronics, wire harnesses and custom hardware components. • You are comfortable working in Linux environments and with scripting tools. • You can read and understand code in languages such as C++, Python or JavaScript. • You have experience using application-level software for testing, flashing and triaging issues. • You have experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers on design validation and manufacturing. This is a full-time role based in Sunnyvale, CA (hybrid). The reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $246,400 to $289,900, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications and experience. If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement. More about Wayve: 🚀 Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving. We are pioneering an end to end AI approach that enables vehicles to learn directly from real world experience, developing the ability to adapt, generalise and improve at scale. Instead of relying on hand coded rules or pre mapped environments, our AI Driver learns to drive by understanding the world around it. The result is technology that navigates complex urban environments with intelligence, precision and natural flow, unlocking meaningful advances in both safety and efficiency. We believe autonomy represents a once in a generation transformation in how people and goods move, comparable to the shift from horses to cars, and from human driven vehicles to intelligent machines. Our ambition is to make autonomy universal. Wayve’s mapless and hardware agnostic AI platform integrates with global OEM partners, enabling continuous software evolution and unlocking advanced levels of automation from L2 plus through to L4 as our core AI model scales. In a race increasingly defined by intelligence and real world learning, Wayve is taking a distinct approach, building a generalisable driving intelligence that can power any vehicle, anywhere. By combining embodied AI with scalable deployment, we are creating technology that can be shaped to each OEM brand and driver experience, accelerating the transition to a safer, more intelligent future of mobility.
