Technical Configuration Manager
Wayve
Job description
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve. We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that. Here’s what this particular role covers. 🛠️ About our Technical Process Excellence Team Wayve’s Technical Process Excellence team helps engineering teams apply practical, effective development processes. Working across engineering, product and quality, we bring consistency and traceability to how engineering work products, changes and releases are managed throughout the development lifecycle. As Configuration Manager, you’ll own configuration and change management across Wayve’s full V-model development lifecycle. You’ll bring proven automotive rigour and adapt it to Wayve’s pace, shaping processes that give teams the control and evidence they need without weighing them down with unnecessary administration. 🧠 Your day-to-day - Build and maintain the configuration item list across the full V-model, keeping requirements, architecture, software, verification evidence and releases clearly identified and controlled. - Run change management in Jira, coordinating reviews, defining review checklists and state transitions, and ensuring only intended, approved changes are implemented. - Establish and maintain consistent baselines across Jira, GitHub, Jama Connect, Enterprise Architect, Google Drive and Notion, ensuring teams can identify and work from the correct versions. - Support requirements management, including requirements structures, attributes, traceability, baselining, change management and tooling. - Partner with engineering teams and process owners to identify gaps, maintain configuration status records, conduct configuration audits and prepare evidence for internal, customer and external assessments. 🧩 What you’ll be working on: - Defining, implementing and continuously improving configuration and change management across the engineering lifecycle, connecting work products and releases through end-to-end traceability. - Acting as process owner for Automotive SPICE SUP.8 Configuration Management and SUP.10 Change Request Management, shaping how Wayve meets assessment expectations through practical, proportionate processes. - Reviewing and finalising the Change Request process with engineering, product and quality, and creating and maintaining project-specific Change & Configuration Management Plans. - Establishing folder structures, naming conventions and document templates that make engineering content consistent, accessible and easier to control. - Improving workflows, tooling, automation, metrics and guidance across configuration and requirements management, reducing manual effort while strengthening control and assessment evidence. 🙌 You should apply if: - You have automotive experience and have helped establish a full development lifecycle end-to-end, working across software, systems engineering and requirements management. - You bring proven configuration and change management experience, including configuration item lists, baselines, change control, status accounting and configuration audits, alongside practical naming conventions and templates. - You’re proactive, organise your work effectively and can drive implementation largely independently, taking ownership from defining an approach through to making it work in practice. - You communicate clearly and confidently across engineering teams and are comfortable holding the line on process discipline with senior stakeholders while maintaining constructive working relationships. - You’re pragmatic and can adapt established automotive practices to Wayve’s context, defining the right level of process rather than over-engineering the solution. - You’re familiar with modern engineering toolchains such as Git/GitHub, Jira, Jama Connect or equivalent, and understand how to maintain control and traceability across tools. - Ideally, you have good working knowledge of Automotive SPICE, particularly SUP.8, SUP.9, SUP.10 and requirements engineering processes. - Experience managing requirements and traceability in Jama Connect or a comparable tool, and improving or automating engineering lifecycle, configuration or compliance workflows, would also be valuable. - Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 or other automotive engineering standards, or an intacs Automotive SPICE Process Expert or Assessor qualification, would be a plus. 🌱 Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! If you’re passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement. More about Wayve: 🚀 Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving.
