Radar Lead
Wayve
Job description
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve. We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that. Here’s what this particular role covers. Radar Lead 🛠️ About our Hardware Engineering Team Wayve's Hardware Engineering team develops and integrates the sensor and compute systems that enable our AI Driver to understand and operate in the real world. Working across hardware, sensing, software and model development, the team turns emerging sensor technologies into reliable, high-quality inputs that can be tested, understood and scaled across vehicle platforms. 🧠 Your day-to-day As the Radar Lead at Wayve, you'll be a key technical expert within the hardware team, supporting the integration of high-quality radar sensor data into our driver model. You'll build and maintain a deep understanding of the automotive radar landscape, define radar data quality guidelines, and provide domain expertise across integration, debugging and testing. Working closely with software and model development teams, you'll build test capabilities and enable experiments that improve how radar data is used by our AI Driver. 🧩 What you’ll be working on: • Continuously monitor and analyse advancements in automotive radar technologies and signal processing, maintaining an up-to-date internal view of the competitive landscape so our software can accommodate the latest developments. • Develop and enforce guidelines for high-quality radar point clouds and sensor data, including best practices for calibration, noise reduction, resolution, and range, velocity and angular accuracy. • Provide radar domain expertise for integrating sensor data into the AV2.0 driver model, supporting debugging and ensuring data from different radar types is processed and incorporated appropriately. • Build and enhance test frameworks to evaluate the impact of different radar inputs on model performance, including experiments across adverse weather, occlusion and clutter, and optimise data collection strategies. • Work closely with software and model development teams to improve radar data processing and handling, using experimentation to identify changes that positively impact model performance. 🙌 You should apply if: • You have proven experience working with automotive radar technologies and integrating them into software-driven systems. • You have strong experience in radar data quality control, including calibration, resolution, noise handling, and range, velocity and angular accuracy considerations. • You have strong analytical skills and can evaluate the impact of sensor data and sensor characteristics on model performance. • You communicate complex technical topics clearly and can present effectively to stakeholders with different technical backgrounds. • You are an effective cross-functional collaborator who works well with hardware, software, model development and other engineering teams. Nice to have • You have basic scripting capability in Python, Bash or similar tools. • You have experience working in ADAS or autonomous vehicle environments. Pay Transparency Disclosure If based in Wayve's Sunnyvale office, this role has the annual base salary range stated below. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact and scope of role), market demands and specific work location.
