This position reports to: Production Engineering Manager __ ABB’s Drives factory in Jüri, Estonia, was established in 2005 and is part of ABB’s global Motion business. The factory is one of ABB’s major production sites for low-voltage drives (frequency converters), power inverters and converters. Our products are used across industries, including manufacturing and marine applications, to control electric motors, improve process efficiency and reduce energy consumption by up to 50%. Most of the drives produced in Jüri are exported to global markets. Your role and responsibilities As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee manufacturing processes from process design and industrialization through production ramp-up and ongoing improvement. You will work hands-on with production teams, lead improvement projects and use your engineering expertise to improve productivity, quality, cost and overall manufacturing performance. Working model: onsite #LIonsite Oversee the development and industrialization of manufacturing processes by defining process sequences, production methods, cycle times, equipment needs, and materials to meet production, quality, cost, and investment goals Drive the ramp-up of new production lines and products, supporting start-up activities, troubleshooting and implementation of action plans together with Production, Maintenance and other relevant stakeholders Design, develop and optimise production processes, tooling and fixtures, using Design for Manufacture principles and advanced SolidWorks CAD/CAM skills Manage continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, analysing KPIs, identifying improvement opportunities and delivering projects focused on productivity, quality, cost and waste reduction Own and continuously improve manufacturing and quality documentation, including process flow charts, FMEA, quality control plans and checklists, while ensuring compliance with defined standards and requirements Collaborate with internal experts, suppliers and ABB teams across different locations to solve complex manufacturing and quality issues, evaluate new technologies and implement scalable best practices Qualification for the role 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with deep experience in engineering and manufacturing processes B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field. Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Quality (DFQ) principles Deep understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools, with practical experience using these methods Advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills, preferably SolidWorks CAD/CAM, with experience designing tooling and fixtures Ability to assess and enhance manufacturing KPIs, determine root causes, and guide improvement efforts from initial concept through full implementation Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently, take ownership and drive projects in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
