The Opportunity In "Global Technical Development" (PTD), we actively collaborate and develop creative technical solutions to efficiently transform scientific ideas into products. Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) is responsible for technical development of the synthetic pipeline molecules and for the manufacture of Drug Substance and Drug Product for clinical studies. PTDC brings a broad range of experience across Drug Substance and Drug Product and analytical sciences, and collaborates closely with key partners in Research and Early Development (pRED / gRED) and with our synthetic molecules commercial manufacturing network. To support process development for therapeutic oligonucleotides, we offer the following internship position for 12 months with the opportunity to gain impactful experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. You will be responsible for the following main tasks: Supporting process development of oligonucleotide manufacturing focusing on the upstream process to develop cost-efficient, novel and robust processes. Develop oligonucleotide manufacturing processes in a lab setting, taking responsibility for establishing suitable synthesis conditions, conducting analytical tests to evaluate quality and yield, and interpreting data. Develop end-to-end control strategies for the quality of the oligonucleotide manufacturing process, taking into account the origin and fate of impurities, process robustness, and control points. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of processes. Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions and presenting results. Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in a clear and organized manner. Key qualifications and skills for this internship include: Enrollment at a university as a Master student, or completed Master studies no longer than 12 months, in the field of Chemistry / Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Good understanding of organic chemistry and process chemistry. Hands-on experience in the laboratory. Working style driven by initiative, team focus, responsibility and flexibility. Ideally, experience with oligonucleotide chemistry, HPLC analysis, and/or downstream techniques such as ultrafiltration and preparative HPLC is an advantage. Non-EU/EFTA citizens must include confirmation from the university with their application documents that a compulsory internship is part of the training.
