Here’s what this particular role covers. 🛠️ About our Fleet Operations Team Our Fleet Operations Team is responsible for maintaining the safety, performance, and operational readiness of Wayve's autonomous vehicle fleet — from routine servicing and diagnostics to urgent repairs and vehicle readiness for high-visibility events. The team keeps our fleet in peak condition to support testing, demonstrations, and real-world deployment, working closely with engineering, drivers, and operations teams to keep autonomy moving forward, every single day. 🧠 Your day-to-day Reporting to the Fleet Service Manager, this hands-on role requires strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to work with modern diagnostic systems, and a proactive, safety-conscious mindset. - Conduct Routine Maintenance & Servicing – Perform scheduled maintenance on a diverse fleet of AVs, ensuring reliability and safety across all vehicles. - Diagnose & Repair Technical Issues – Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools, working closely with engineering teams to resolve issues quickly. - Support High-Profile AV Readiness – Ensure vehicles are kept in excellent condition and ready for demos, investor rides, and media-facing events. - React to Fleet Faults in Real-Time – Respond to reports from drivers and fleet monitoring systems to address urgent repairs and get vehicles back on the road rapidly. - Work Collaboratively Across Functions – Liaise with Fleet Service Managers, drivers, and Field Engineering to resolve fleet issues and track recurring faults. - Follow Workshop Safety Protocols – Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshop environments, following proper procedures and compliance. - Contribute to Servicing Process Improvements – Share ideas for improving servicing workflows, fault reporting, and documentation practices. - Keep Accurate Records – Log all maintenance and repair activities using tracking tools, supporting compliance and trend analysis for continuous improvement. - Maintain Parts and Tools Readiness – Help manage toolkits, diagnostic devices, and parts inventory to ensure smooth daily operations. - Flexibility to Support 24/7 Operations – This is a shift-based role, supporting a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 fleet readiness and coverage. 🧩 What you’ll be working on - Routine & Preventative Maintenance – Execute scheduled servicing and inspections per manufacturer and internal guidelines. - Mechanical & Electrical Fault Resolution – Diagnose and repair a wide range of issues using OEM documentation and advanced diagnostic equipment. - Vehicle Readiness for Demonstrations – Ensure vehicles meet high standards of cleanliness, reliability, and functionality for public-facing use. - Workshop Safety & Compliance – Adhere to safety best practices, risk assessments, and regulations. - Repair Documentation & Tracking – Accurately record faults found, actions taken, and parts used using digital tools. - Feedback into Fleet Performance – Communicate recurring issues or improvement ideas to the Fleet Service Manager and Field Engineering teams. - Customer-Facing Communication – Engage with fleet drivers to resolve issues they report and ensure a positive operational experience. 🙌 You should apply if Essential: - You have relevant qualifications in automotive servicing, diagnostics and repairs, such as Level 2 Automotive Mechanic qualification (二級自動車整備士) in Japan. - You have proven experience as a Vehicle Technician in an automotive servicing or fleet environment. - You have strong diagnostics capability using OEM or third-party diagnostic equipment. - You're familiar with mechanical and bodywork repairs using OEM repair manuals. - You're competent with computer systems for tracking and recording maintenance tasks (e.g., Word, Excel). - You're comfortable interacting with engineers, operations staff, and drivers. - You have a strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance standards. - You hold a Japan Driving License for at least 5 years. 🌱 Not ticking every box?
